There are 1.3 billion adolescents in the world today, who make up 16% of the 8 billion people on our planet. Integrating youth in global discussions is vital for the transition to a net zero, nature-positive future, as they will inherit and shape the world of tomorrow. We are thrilled to harness this potential thanks to our growing network of +380 #VillarsFellows by learning, sharing ideas, and collaborating together. Inspiring changemakers like Zlata Shama, who joined the Villars Fellowship Program in 2022 and participated in the #VillarsSymposium 2024, exemplify the innovative spirit of our community as we welcome our new 2024 cohort. #VillarsSymposium #naturepositive #netzero International School of Geneva

We are excited to announce our participation in the kick-off meeting of the MIL Skills project, which took place in Riga, Latvia on January 23-24! The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus + programme and will explore the role of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) in today's digital world. In an era where fake news is everywhere, developing the ability to critically analyse and evaluate information is no longer a luxury, it's a necessity. This Erasmus+ project, coordinated by New East, brings together a diverse group of partners, Innovation Hive, Balkan Bridge , Exeo Lab Srl, Syncnify, Gri Gabinete de Recolocación and Vernian RTI. Our consortium's mission is to provide adults and educators with the tools and techniques needed to navigate the digital era with confidence. Fostering critical thinking, responsible online behavior, and empowering individuals to become engaged citizens is crucial in the digital age and we are excited to be part of this initiative. #erasmusplusproject #fakenews #digitalera #medialiteracy #europeanunion

Reflections on an inspiring week in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium where the UCLouvain - Université catholique de Louvain initiated a dialogue on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion fostering an environment for conversations. Sheyma Arfawi and Alena Sander (she/her) had the pleasure to support the event as advisors, facilitators, and observers. For us, #space emerged as the defining keyword of this and future ED&I events at UCLouvain: 1️⃣ Spaces for Conflict and Reparation: Embracing conflicts as opportunities for growth, learning, and healing is vital in fostering a truly inclusive environment. 2️⃣ Spaces for Allowing Ourselves to be Vulnerable and Feel Emotions: Acknowledging our vulnerabilities and emotions enables genuine connections and promotes empathy. 3️⃣ Spaces for Exchange and Networking Between Supporters of ED&I: Building networks of like-minded individuals amplifies our collective voice, making strides toward a more inclusive future. 4️⃣ Spaces for Learning and Self-reflection: Allowing all and especially difficult questions around ED&I promotes self reflecion through empathetic invitations to rethink our biases. 5️⃣ Spaces for Community and Selfcare: Receiving and giving affirmations, feeling and letting people feel seen to remind ourselves and others of the importance of care 6️⃣ Spaces for Growth: Acknowledging that ED&I is a continuous process and that growth is sometimes uncomfortable.

Delighted and humbled that I was invited to attend the Science Summit at United Nations General Assembly (#UNGA78) in New York, USA. For the first time, the Science Summit at the United Nations General Assembly will examine how equitable access to big science institutions can accelerate the progress of the UN’s #sustainable #goals such as tackling #poverty and #hunger. The Summit will examine what enabling policy, regulatory, and financial environments are needed to implement and sustain the science mechanisms required to support genuinely global scientific collaborations across continents, nations, and themes. I am grateful to COST Association - European Cooperation in Science and Technology for the invitation to attend the Science Summit and celebrate COST Actions’ contribution to the United Nations’ work. Delighted to be offered the opportunity to engage with relevant UN stakeholders. Looking forward to this amazing opportunity for international networking and to sharing my experience from the different projects I led and implemented at London Metropolitan University. Most of these were international collaborations of researchers and practitioners closely linked to respective Cost-funded Actions. More specifically, these projects focused on addressing inequalities (#sdg10, especially in relation to gender #sdg5), promoting inclusion for disadvantaged students, i.e., BAME, international multilingual and multicultural students, and neurodiverse students), enhancing teaching and learning, and advancing education (#sdg4) to meet the evolving needs of students and society. #GSBL #knowledgeexchange #internationalnetworking #Science #qualityeducation #genderequality #reducedinequalities

🌍 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐈 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟏𝟓% 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? 💡 This question concluded the RECI Education Forum 2024, with Paeradigms and 60 participants from nearly 20 countries, including Nepal, Haiti, Uganda, Moldova, Benín, Albania, and Switzerland. The forum focused on educational gaps challenging Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). Participants were asked: "What can you do tomorrow morning, very concretely, assuming each of us has a 15% chance of having an impact?", inspiring these responses: • 🌍 Introduce mother tongue education to preserve cultural and language diversity. • ✨ Follow Gandhi's advice to "be the change," starting with changing personal attitudes and patriarchal frameworks. • 🌐 Network more to leverage the strengths and advantages of others. • ♿ Make training and events accessible to diverse rights holders. • 📢 Engage in continuous advocacy for sustainable educational funding. 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 🌟 A particularly interesting aspect of the forum was the use of the "open space" methodology to manage the event. "Open Space" lets participants create and manage the agenda themselves, taking ownership and collaborating for solutions. This approach has potential as a tool that could support the solutions discussed today, supporting the shift in educational structures and frameworks (such as flexible pathways) that were discussed in the forum. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 🙌 Paeradigms Project Manager Jéssica Jossias, who joined the forum from Mozambique, was enthusiastic. She remarked, "It gives participants the chance to raise relevant topics, ensuring inclusivity and diversity. It removes pressure and validates all contributions. It’s straight to the point and improves timekeeping and knowledge sharing." 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 📚 The RECI Education Forum 2024 showcased the potential of the open space methodology to transform events and support shifts in educational structures.
