Will the 'right to switch off' from work fix the burnout problem? The UK government has pledged to enshrine the "right to switch off" from work into law, in a move hailed by many as a step forward for employee rights. It would see employers penalised for contacting workers outside of their agreed working hours, in an attempt to improve people’s wellbeing and work-life balance. https://lnkd.in/d7RdtFCn #wellness #wellbeing #selfcare #wellnessatwork #wellbeingatwork #corporatewellness #employeewellbeing

Let's show empathy and understanding, ensuring our team feels valued and supported every step of the way. Together, we can create a workplace that prioritizes employee health and happiness! 💪 #SupportiveWorkplace #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceCulture #NoSalaryRefund

Unfair Workplace Practices 🚫 It's disappointing when companies disregard employees' well-being. Not giving a day off on public holidays is a clear violation of workers' rights. Adding demerits for small mistakes or not following SOPs only adds to the pressure, creating a toxic work environment. Employees deserve respect, fair treatment, and the right to recharge, especially on public holidays. Let's raise awareness about these unjust policies and work towards creating a healthier and more balanced workplace for everyone. #UnfairWorkplacePolicies #EmployeeRights #WorkplaceJustice #FairTreatment

Australia has just implemented a law that offers employees the "right to disconnect" once they’ve clocked off. This means that workers are no longer obliged to answer calls or respond to messages from their employers after work hours - without fear of repercussions. In a world where work-life boundaries are increasingly blurred, this could be a game-changer for employee well-being. Should we consider adopting a similar law here in the UK? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how this could impact our work culture and work-life balance. #WorkLifeBalance #RightToDisconnect #EmployeeRights #MentalHealth #UKWorkplace https://lnkd.in/eRHYXf4s

The UK’s new Employment Rights Bill is a significant step towards improving workplace standards, especially in areas like flexible working, wellbeing, and mental health. The legislation brings essential changes, such as day-one access to statutory sick pay and parental leave, while also promoting flexible working as a standard expectation rather than a perk. In Workplace Insights’ latest article, our Group Director of People, Vicky Walker, highlights the importance of flexible working: "By legitimising flexibility as a core employee right, this bill acknowledges the growing need for workers to balance their professional and personal lives without sacrificing productivity." Vicky’s comments reflect how prioritising flexibility and employee wellbeing directly impacts employee engagement, retention, and workplace mental health—all crucial for creating a thriving, supportive environment. Now more than ever, HR and business leaders should focus on ensuring their teams feel valued, trusted, and supported. By doing so, they can foster a culture of wellbeing, improve mental health, and build a more resilient workforce.
