As we continue to guide our summer interns, some of our team began reflecting on their own internship experiences. The first week of summer vacation for my kids is here. We're gearing up for summer camps and activities. This time of year takes me back to my college internship, where I ran sports camps for the local YMCA. We started and ended each day by reviewing the core values: Caring Respect Honesty Responsibility. We would talk about these as we opened the day, and at the end of the day, we would ask if anyone saw any of the campers displaying these behaviors. Those who did were rewarded with a little prize and a round of applause. If organizations reward and recognize core values, they will continue to permeate through the organization. Think about what behaviors are being rewarded and emulated and which ones you want to be magnified.
