During the June holidays, The Learning Lab, Singapore (TLL) is always abuzz with extra classes and special programmes for our students. To express our gratitude to our dedicated and hardworking staff working extra hard this season, we organized a special welfare drive, distributing thoughtfully curated welfare boxes filled with healthy snacks, refreshing vitamin C drinks, and honey 🍯 🍋 These little tokens are our way of saying "thank you" for the unwavering commitment and tireless efforts of our staff. More than that, these boxes were also purchased from (and in support of) HoneySpree, a home-grown social enterprise who hires Stay-At-Home-Mums (SAHMs) to empower them with financial independence. Here's a feature of some of our team members enjoying their welfare boxes! 🎁 ✨ Thank you once again to everyone at TLL for making a difference every single day. Let's continue to press on, and at the same time, do our part in creating a positive impact in our communities! 😊 #EmployeeWelfare #StaffAppreciation #EmployeeEngagement #SupportLocal #EmpoweringWomen #TheLearningLab #LifeatTLL #EducationMatters #TLLcelebrates

About the team. Unity and a common welfare. Survival is directly related to fellowship. The group or team must remain stable or the fellowship perishes and the individual fails. Those individuals are precious to the team and the team is precious to the fellowship. we share our experiences an learn from one another, because alone we consistently place our personal desires before anything else. As a team we discover what is good for the team is good for ourselves. Common themes in our experiences while different are similar in purpose, as individuals who are strong will wish to convince others by ourselves we can make it, and if proceeding to live that way with disastrous results don't convince you that self sufficiency is a lie, perhaps thinking about your life without family friends and community would shift perspective a little. No one is an island and to succeed in the modern world the primary word unity is what to share with a desire to succeed. Learning to live and work together as teams ensuring fellowship as a group to exist, with each membership setting aside their differences for the common good. Some will resist, many will not. The self-seeker will often find themselves outside, their dissension will eventually cause disaster for themself.

Welfare, Skills and Success would be the vital aspect seen by the new Leadership of the Ministry of Human Resource Malaysia. Malaysia has always been at forefront in South East Asia as the leading nation establishing human resource capability lead by the government. The welfare, skills and success embodies the elements that would drive to a high income nation. The skills attained would sustain and uplift the well-being of all employees that would eventually drive success over success. Trade union and private sector has the critical role to participate and transform the existing workforce as a business partner. Trade union and industry NGO's will need to see 1. Winning in business know-how. 2. Ability to compete - high quality of service/product at lowest cost. 3. Performance based culture with transparent governance. The private sector and government agencies will need to 1. Build the frame work for Leading and embracing in supporting and guiding the front liners. Strengthen at this level and put a stop wasting time on never ending lagging meetings. 2. Build the Leadership complementing to the local strength. Capitalize on our success stories as Malaysian in plantation, oil and gas, IT and technology and automotive. Embracing foreign strength is like painting on a poorly treated surface. We see this kind of implication so much in our existing multinational companies. We need to create our own intelligent. The top knot leadership to lead for the people where they are operating. Lot's of work required at this area. 3. Emphasize on training for people to win in business. The rate of firefighting in local operations are unbearable. Thus envisioning on social and performance based transparent rewarding systems would drive and cultivate the current to start becoming high performing society. We are embarking on industry 4.0 and we still need lots of strengthening at the foundation part especially for people and leadership development. See training and development as mandate for Welfare, Skill enhancement (operational and leadership) and Success in people, business and nation. 😊

Dicky Chow, Head of Healthcare & Social Innovation, 團結香港基金 Our Hong Kong Foundation (OHKF), Dorothy Yeung, MPH, Assistant Researcher, OHKF, and Lillian Shu, Intern, OHKF, wrote a commentary on the standardization of advance care planning (ACP) for citizens to make their fine life planning. The three recommend strengthening the cooperation between the government and relevant sectors, particularly the 醫院管理局 (HA) and organizations with practical experience in the community. The following principles can be considered for the development of a standardized ACP framework, including: first, increasing the participation of the HA and various social welfare organizations to ensure effective communication and cooperation among all parties involved; second, strengthening the training of professionals in the field of end-of life care to improve their service quality and professional level; third, enhancing the eHealth system to realize data sharing and promote efficiency in resource allocation; and fourth, conducting empirical research for unceasing improvement and refinement of the ACP framework by continuously collecting opinions and suggestions from the public. They proposed the authorities to provide systematic ACP training courses for staff at all levels and appropriate professional counselling services for citizens with different health status so that their medical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs can be met. As a result, the citizens likely are enabled to live out their final years according to their own wishes. Worker Welfare: - Private & Government Organizations in Malaysia - how do organisations claim their contribution to sustainability without it? * This call by the PM should be welcomed because addressing worker welfare is overdue. * Worker welfare includes not only their general health and standard of accommodation, but recruitment methods, work permit/visa allocation, ability to move across industry sectors without being abandoned, and safety in their work. * If Malaysia genuinely wants to attract more local frontline workers, welfare issues need to be addressed. * Having said this, the Country's reliance on large quantities of foreign workers is likely to continue for years to come, and their treatment should meet international migration worker standards. * The Covid-19 outbreak drew attention to worker accommodation standards, and discerning export customers have pushed back on worker recruitment and employment standards to the point of exposing Malaysia's vulnerability to human rights. * The same can't be said for addressing workplace Safety and Health. * The approach to this has been, and continues to be largely "reactive" with enforcement authorities reacting to serious events. * Compared with Countries like Australia, UK and neighboring Singapore, Malaysia lags behind in workplace safety performance. * Attempts to improve self-regulation among business, whether Government - Linked or Private, and reduce accident rates have not been successful. * Apart from the fact that current Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) legislation doesn't cover all workplaces, it is also out of date. * Regretfully, the OSH (amendment) Act 2022 gazetted in March 2022, and developed to improve workplace Safety & Health performance still awaits permission to be enforced - this should be a key component in the Government's and Private sector's drive to achieve sustainability.

Great recap on the broad principles of the new government's approach to employability and related activities - nothing that we haven't already called for and very welcome. A great position and fantastic opportunity for the IEP to help influence, shape the changes needed whilst maintaining and building on what is proven to work so that we can realise the full potential of our communities that continues build, improve on and share the success that has been achieved to date. #success #employability #communityprosperity How will Labour Transform our Employability Services? The Labour Party’s return to power marks a significant opportunity to transform the UK’s approach to employability services and welfare policy. Central to Labour’s vision is creating an inclusive, equitable society where support is available to all who need it. This ambitious agenda should involve ensuring that professional standards and quality improvement are at the forefront of service delivery while adopting a person-centred approach in service design and commissioning. I am keen to explore how the new government plans to realise these ambitions, ensure inclusivity across the UK, maintain high professional standards, and leverage devolution to support its goals. https://lnkd.in/ecrssWiT @IEPInfo #IEPNews #Employability #EmployabilitySector #EmployabilityPeople @MrEmployability #LabourPartyUK
