📣 Happy Juneteenth from The Black HR Society! 🎉 Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a pivotal day in our history. On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom, marking the end of slavery in the United States. This day represents liberation, resilience, and the enduring fight for equality. As we celebrate, let’s reflect on the significance of freedom and the continued journey toward true equity. Juneteenth is not just a historical milestone but a call to action. It reminds us of the work still needed to create inclusive environments where everyone can thrive. Our Commitment: At The Black HR Society, we are dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace. We believe in the power of representation and the importance of creating spaces where all voices are heard and valued. This Juneteenth, we reaffirm our commitment to: Empower Black Professionals: Providing resources, support, and opportunities for growth. Advocate for Change: Promoting policies and practices that foster inclusion and address systemic inequities. Educate and Raise Awareness: Offering professional development and initiatives to deepen understanding and drive meaningful change. Together, let’s honor the past, celebrate the present, and build a more equitable future. Happy Juneteenth! #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #BlackHRSociety #DiversityAndInclusion #EquityMatters #CelebrateJuneteenth

🌟 As we celebrate Black History Month, it is essential to reflect on the profound contributions of Black American labor rights activists who have propelled the rights of workers forward throughout history. Their tireless advocacy and unwavering commitment to justice have shaped the landscape of labor rights and paved the way for progress in the workplace. Here is a short history on the contributions of just a few Black American labor rights activists: 💪🏿 One iconic figure is A. Philip Randolph, a trailblazing leader who organized the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the first predominantly Black labor union. His courageous efforts challenged racial discrimination and improved working conditions for thousands of African American railway workers. 💪🏿 We also honor the legacy of Bayard Rustin, a visionary strategist and key architect of the Civil Rights Movement. Rustin played a pivotal role in organizing the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963, advocating for economic justice and employment opportunities for all Americans. 💪🏿 Additionally, we recognize the groundbreaking work of Lucy Parsons, an influential labor organizer and advocate for the rights of workers, particularly African American and immigrant laborers, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Her fearless activism laid the groundwork for labor movements striving for equality and fair treatment in the workplace. As we commemorate Black History Month, let us not only celebrate the achievements of these remarkable individuals but also reaffirm our commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Their legacies remind us that the fight for labor rights is inseparable from the struggle for racial justice. Let's honor their memory by continuing to champion equality and fairness for all workers. #BlackHistoryMonth #LaborRights #Equality #ohio #law #employmentlaw #workersrights

🌟 Celebrating Black History Month and Employee Rights 🌟 How do you celebrate Black History Month? Have you ever considered its connection to Employee Rights? America's foundation was built on the exploitation of labor, particularly of trafficked and enslaved Africans. I'm passionate about ensuring fair employment as a descendant and HR professional. Every stride towards workplace equity is a tribute to the courageous individuals who challenged the injustices of humanity. Join Elevated TA as we delve into America's labor history during Black History Month. Our latest video highlights the abolition of slavery and the poignant portrayal of workers' strikes in HBO's The Gilded Age. "At the end of the day, we're all employees. Even the CEO reports to the Board [of Directors] and Shareholders." This sentiment resonates profoundly as we reflect on our collective journey towards workplace equity. From entry-level professionals to CEOs, we're all in this together, forging a brighter future. Please share your thoughts as we strive to foster community and dialogue -like and share to spread our message of unity as we celebrate Black History Month. #ElevatedTA #blackhistorymonth #employeerights #unityindiversity #ceomindset Photo cred: https://lnkd.in/ehXSC5XH https://lnkd.in/e3u_jMye

🤔 How can we go beyond commemorating history to co-creating an equitable present and future for Black folks in the workplace? This #blackhistorymonth I want more for us. According to Coqual's 2019 study "Being Black in Corporate America" researchers found that due to low representation and little career advancement, there was a bigger risk of attrition with Black employees being 30% more likely to intend to leave an organization than White employees. As 1) a Black woman and 2) a #DEI professional I must acknowledge how occasionally hollow this month can feel when there’s only celebration of the past without action to improve Black professionals experiences today. Our work to address racial inequity in the workplace requires long-term action and accountability. Through Janna Allen Hines Consulting I want to support organizations in taking substantive action and co-creating workplaces that uplift and retain Black employees. #diversity #equity #inclusion #DefendDEI #consulting #retention #attrition #deitraining

Managing Partner | We partner with CEOs, using an insurgent approach to drive outcome-focused, scalable, and systemic change.
In diversity discussions, it's crucial to recognize that everyone's voice deserves a place at the table. While the black experience is undeniably significant, it's important not to let it overshadow the diversity within diversity. Opening up the conversation to include various perspectives ensures a more comprehensive understanding of the rich tapestry of human experiences. In fostering an inclusive dialogue, we create space for everyone to contribute, share, and shape the narrative collectively. https://lnkd.in/eDPGB4w #hrci #diversitytraining #diversity #hr #humanresources
