Did you know that having a Women-Owned Business Certification can open doors to a world of funding opportunities? Here are three reasons why: 1) The federal government aims to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to women-owned small businesses. With the certification, you become eligible for the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program, giving you an edge over competitors and increasing your chances of winning contracts. 2) Many private corporations and foundations also have diversity goals and set aside funds specifically for women-owned businesses. Having the certification shows that your business has undergone a rigorous verification process, making you a more attractive candidate for funding. 3) The certification also provides access to training and networking opportunities through the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. Don't miss out on these benefits - get certified today and take your business to new heights! Until March 31st, we're empowering Women-Owned Small Businesses by partnering with top resources to offer discounted services for certifications. 🎉 Note: You MUST be registered on SAMS.gov to get this support. During Small Business Month, it's an excellent moment to contemplate integrating the WOSB certification into your portfolio. The Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Certification presents a chance to tap into government contracts, as annually, the government aims to allocate 5% of all contracts to Women-Owned Small Businesses, offering numerous opportunities to deserving small businesses like yours. This initiative aims to bolster female representation in the business sector and to furnish opportunities that may have been previously unavailable. If your business is majority-owned and operated by women (51%), you may qualify to access a portion of these funds. At Women's Business Council Southwest, we provide this certification. It can bring opportunities that you didn't know existed.

The Small Business Administration Women-Owned Small Business #WOSB Federal Contract Program is designed to help level the playing field for women business owners. The program aims to enable women-owned small businesses to compete for federal contracts in industries where they are underrepresented. Here are some highlights of the certification program: ✅Federal Contracting Goals: The federal government aims to award at least 5% of all federal contracting dollars to WOSBs each year. This is part of an effort to provide fair access to contracting opportunities for women-owned businesses. ✅Eligibility: To qualify for the WOSB program, a business must be a small business as defined by SBA size standards, be at least 51% owned and controlled by women who are U.S. citizens, and have women managing day-to-day operations and making long-term decisions. For the Economically Disadvantaged WOSBs (EDWOSBs), additional financial criteria apply. ✅Certification Process: The certification process for WOSBs and EDWOSBs has been updated to make it easier for qualified businesses to participate. Businesses must undergo a certification process which is free and can be completed online through the SBA’s platform or with the help of WM APEX ACCELORATOR. ✅Contract Types: The program allows for both set-aside and sole-source contracts for WOSBs and EDWOSBs. Contracts can be set aside if there is a reasonable expectation that two or more qualified businesses will submit offers and the contract can be awarded at a fair market price. ✅Program Improvements: In 2020, significant changes were implemented to improve the certification process and enhance the customer experience. These changes, mandated by Congress, also aimed to strengthen oversight and maintain the integrity of the certification process. The West Michigan APEX Accelerator also supports women entrepreneurs and business owners, by assisting them in the certification process for the Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contract Program. Through this support, WM APEX helps women-owned businesses access federal contracting opportunities and level the playing field in industries where they are underrepresented.
