As Indian cities face the growing challenge of air pollution, bold and innovative solutions are the need of the hour. In January 2023, this is what our team, in collaboration with ICCT India set out to do—understand and test Low Emission Zones (LEZs) in Indian cities. With over 22 months of tireless efforts, endless strategy sessions, several stakeholder discussions, and on ground data collections - 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺.
Of course, the journey has not been short of its challenges! LEZs were uncharted territory when we began—new for city officials, partners, and even our own team. So, while it has been a thrilling process of conducting in-depth research and figuring out the solutions, we were also constantly learning and adapting our strategies to achieve the goals in these three cities. Many people don't know about 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 Perspectives of Ayodhya.
Let's summarise the 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 Perspectives of Ayodhya:
Ayodhya is an ancient city that has witnessed history being written with the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, a temple dedicated to Lord Ram, one of the most revered Hindu deities.
The temple fulfills a decades-long dream of Hindu nationalists and marks a controversial moment in India's religious and political landscape.
Ayodhya is also undergoing a massive transformation, with a vision to become a glitzy temple town that showcases its rich cultural heritage and offers a holistic experience to its visitors. The Eight Perspectives of Ayodhya are:

"Celebrating the Spirit of Dasara: A Festival of Triumph and New Beginnings"
As the vibrant festival of Dasara approaches, it brings with it a sense of joy, renewal, and unity that resonates deeply across India. This ten-day festival, also known as Vijayadashami, marks the victory of good over evil, symbolized by Lord Rama's triumph over Ravana and Goddess Durga's defeat of the buffalo demon Mahishasura. It’s a reminder that perseverance, righteousness, and strength always prevail, no matter the challenges we face.
In many ways, the spirit of Dasara mirrors the journey of personal and professional growth. Just as the festival emphasizes overcoming obstacles, we too encounter challenges that test our resolve. Whether it's meeting a critical project deadline, navigating through a crisis, or striving for balance in a fast-paced work environment, Dasara reminds us to stay strong, remain focused, and emerge victorious.
This festival also highlights the importance of renewal—of ideas, practices, and perspectives. It's a time to reflect on the year gone by, celebrate achievements, and set new aspirations for the future, much like a business assesses its progress and realigns its goals for the next quarter or fiscal year.
As we celebrate this auspicious occasion, let’s carry forward the values of courage, teamwork, and resilience, fostering a culture that promotes innovation, collaboration, and growth. Wishing everyone a joyful and prosperous Dasara!

Ganapati Celebration Across India: A Journey with Bappa
Did you know Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated differently across India? Join us on a journey with Bappa as we explore unique traditions in each state!
🌟 Maharashtra: The heart of Ganesh Chaturthi, where massive pandals, vibrant processions, and the famous Lalbaugcha Raja draw millions of devotees.
🌟 Karnataka: Here, the festival is marked by eco-friendly Ganesha idols and cultural performances, reflecting the state's rich heritage.
🌟 Tamil Nadu: Known for its traditional rituals, Tamil Nadu celebrates with beautifully decorated idols and special sweets like modak and kozhukattai.
🌟 Goa: Ganesh Chaturthi in Goa is a family affair, with homes adorned with intricate decorations and traditional Goan sweets like nevri and patoleo.
🌟 West Bengal: While Durga Puja is the main festival, Ganesh Chaturthi is gaining popularity with colorful idols and community celebrations.
🌟 Andhra Pradesh: The festival here is known for its grand processions and the immersion of idols in rivers and lakes, symbolizing the cycle of creation and dissolution.
From vibrant cultural performances to delicious offerings, this festival brings out the beauty of India's diversity.
But there's more to Ganesh Chaturthi than just celebrations. This festival is a shining example of 'unity in diversity'. During the freedom struggle, Lokmanya Tilak transformed Ganesh Chaturthi from a private celebration into a grand public event. By placing Ganesha idols in public spaces, he aimed to bring people together, transcending caste, creed, and community barriers. This strategy fostered a sense of unity and collective identity among Indians, crucial for the freedom movement.
Today, this tradition continues. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as a community festival where people from all walks of life come together to worship, celebrate, and share joy. The streets come alive with music, dance, and the spirit of togetherness. It's a time when differences are set aside, and the focus is on collective celebration and harmony.

It is estimated that the extensive development in Ayodhya will soon begin to attract millions of tourists a year. Under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Sir, we are striving to ensure that the city has adequate and sustainable infrastructure :
* Raja Dasharath Samadhi Sthal is being transformed to enhance the spiritual experience for tourists. The road will be widened 24 metres to reach the Raja Dashrath Samadhi Sthal. It will be connected to Navya Ayodhya, creating an integrated network for backpackers and other tourists.
* Battery-operated carts will be made available for devotees visiting Ayodhya to offer prayers at the Ram temple and the Hanuman Garhi temple. Over 650 e-carts will be deployed till March in the first phase and will be available at parking lots around the city.
Ayodhya, with its deeply rooted cultural significance, is exemplifying how acknowledging and preserving heritage can be a source of strength rather than a hindrance. As the city embraces modernity, it does so with a conscious effort to retain the soul of its past.
