Last month, a major turning point in the field of plastic recycling was achieved, the PLAST2bCLEANED project, which ELIX Polymers participated in, came to an end with a final webinar and meeting, where we presented the remarkable results achieved within the PLAST2bCLEANED project 👏. ♻ Contribute to #Sustainability with closed #recycling loop for paper liners from #teamlohmann   🆕 Join in: LinerLoop™ with Lohmann GmbH & Co. KG   🛠 Siliconized paper liners, which are #waste products in the #adhesivetape bonding process, were previously thermally recycled and could not be reused as new or equivalent products. Their standard dark brown color and comparatively low volume in paper recycling not only made separate recycling of white #recyclable glassine economically unviable, but also contaminated the quality of the recycled light-colored pulp.   ♻ With new recyclable paper liners, we are now making exactly this possible in cooperation with UPM Specialty Papers. Through the innovative LinerLoop™ recycling system, the white, siliconized paper liners are collected and reprocessed by selected recycling companies. It’s exciting to follow this collaboration between RecyClass and APR as they bring global alignment around definitions and guidelines around designing for recyclability. It can be complicated tranitioning packaging based on one guideline let alone for global companies trying to align and understand several. This will bring better clarity and understanding for global companies to make confident choices around packaging as they move to more sustainable options. #circulareconomy

After a successful first year of collaboration, the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) and RecyClass published a report on the key milestones achieved in accelerating global alignment of Design for Recycling Guidance. With a comprehensive focus on recycling streams commonly addressed by both organizations, including HDPE, PP, PE flexible packaging, and PET, the collaboration has enabled the execution of common recyclability tests, generating robust scientific data which will serve as a baseline for future harmonization efforts 👏 Read more in this press release ▶ https://lnkd.in/ewj2jtBh
