We’ve captured real-time data from our collection and recycling sites across Dublin since October. Our tracking system shows that we’ve collected 46,500 cups so far, with the potential to collect up to 219,500 cups annually from participating sites in Dublin. When you scale that up to a national rollout across Ireland, we could collect up to 63 million cups a year. 🇮🇪 ♻ We’re very proud of these numbers and they show the potential impact of scaling our proven recycling programme. Imagine the positive environmental impact of transforming 63 million cups a year into high-quality paper packaging instead of meeting a different fate. ✅ 🌍 To scale recycling programmes is a real challenge. At The Cup Collective we’re making it happen through our user-friendly recycling pathway that’s cost effective for business – with zero cost for consumers. We’re continuing to work with our partners to grow our network in Dublin and we’re always looking for new partners to join us. Please share with your network, visit our website and get in touch if you’re interested if you want to find out more. The UK’s new Nature Minister has announced plans to fast-track the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) before October 2027. But is it already out of date? DRS, a system that sees customers paying a refundable deposit of around 20p for every package of drink they purchase, has proven to be extremely effective for years in countries including Germany, Finland and Norway. However, while an all-in DRS is a no-brainer solution that’s within sight in the UK, we also need to think bigger. We have got to use this opportunity to reverse out of our single-use lifestyles. Why does a piece of packaging need to be totally recycled after being used once? The Reposit | Returnable Packaging Platform | B Corp scheme, giving industry packaging as a service, is the holy grail. It offers standardised, high quality packaging across competitive brands and retailers that give shoppers pre-filled convenience. We need to accelerate systems changes that reduce energy and resource, rather than increasing our dependency on creaking recycling infrastructure. The UK must go beyond catching up; it needs to take the lead and rethink our entire approach to consumption and waste. https://lnkd.in/eA-59fgu

This is definitely a marketing failure, McDonald's! 134 million sachets is the staggering number of 1000 tonnes packaging waste that McD shouldn’t be proud of it. Here are the worst things about sachets and why McDonald's shouldn’t be proud of it 1. Nearly 427,5 billion sachets discarded annually in Asia and McD shouldn’t be proud to contribute 0.03% of it 2. Sachet are nearly impossible to recycle due to their multilayer construction and McD shouldn’t be proud to lead to most sachet being discarded or incinerated And the last 3. Sachet has no economic value and McD shouldn’t be proud to “sell” the no value things

What looks like a normal coffee cup is actually a Circular&Co. returnable cup. 💡Only 5% of the public are consuming coffee with a reusable cup. The rest using disposable cups results in pollution that ends up in landfills and in our oceans. What an excellent initiative adopted by Noa Bakehouse to encourage circularity!☕️ How it works is you pay a small deposit for the returnable cup when ordering a coffee to take out and get your deposit back when you return the cup 💸♾️ https://noa.im https://lnkd.in/eqPDMaCq #circularity #sustainability

Happy International Coffee Day! ☕ Today, we’re reminded of the importance of sustainability in our everyday habits, including how we dispose of our coffee cups. A common misconception is that paper coffee cups cannot be recycled due to their plastic lining. However, while they require separate collection, they can be recycled ♻️. In 2018, we partnered with Costa Coffee to launch The National Cup Recycling Scheme (NCRS), a pioneering initiative to significantly increase the recycling of paper cups across the UK. This voluntary industry collaboration now includes eight major retailers, working together with consumers, waste collectors, and brands to reduce landfill waste and litter 🗑️. With legislation for takeaway cups on the horizon and growing consumer demand for environmentally conscious practices, businesses must transition to sustainable solutions 🍃. The NCRS’s Cup Takeback Membership offers businesses the tools to provide cup recycling solutions, including consumer-facing resources, discounted rates for the Cup Box collection service, and expert consultancy 💬. For more information on the National Cup Recycling Scheme, membership options, or to request a stand-alone Cup Box for your business, visit the NCRS website today 🔗https://okt.to/1IMVCf #InternationalCoffeeDay #cuprecycling #NCRS #sustainability #recycling

| Managing Director | Enhancing Customer Refreshment Experiences | Driving Growth & Innovation in the UK Vending Industry | Leading High-Performance Teams
I am a massive fan of the Podback scheme and have shared many articles about the great work going on but I think this is a brilliant move from them to partner with Costa Coffee and introduce deposit points in their coffee shops for loyal customers to return filled bags of coffee pods to be collected and recycled. A trip to a coffee shop is at least a weekly occurrence for many of the UK public now, and those that do visit coffee shops are more likely to have a coffee pod machine at home, so the partnership makes total sense. For Costa, they have created a circular economy for their own label pods that they sell in store and through retail and it fits nicely with their efforts to collect coffee cups for recycling as well. Why not consider partnering up a Coinadrink Limited coffee station for your workplace and create a circular solution through food waste collections of the coffee grounds (or we can do it for you) and provide an outlet in your business for staff to bring their coffee pods from home. A great step forward on the sustainability front. #Recycling #Coffee #MoreThanJustVending
