In our collective efforts to make dementia care more manageable, a key strategy lies in knowledge and understanding. By prioritizing training and education about dementia symptoms, I aim to equip caregivers with the essential tools to navigate the complexities of this condition. Learning about the nuances of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias empowers individuals to provide more tailored and compassionate care. It fosters an environment where both professional caregivers and family members can better comprehend the needs and behaviors of those living with dementia symptoms, creating a supportive framework that enhances the overall quality of care. Through continuous learning and empathy, we can truly make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by this disease. #alzheimers #caregivers #memorycare #dementiacare #iamdementiaaware

Young onset dementia is any dementia diagnosed before the age of 65. This can often include diagnoses of frontotemporal dementia, Alzheimer’s dementia, vascular dementia, dementia secondary to Down’s syndrome, Korsakoff syndrome and many more. When dementia occurs at this age, there are unique challenges individuals with this diagnosis and their families face. These individuals may still be working, driving, making complex decisions, and have young children. More than ever, these situations result in the entire family carrying a lot of weight and being left with navigating a world they have never even heard of. I love the care and compassion @lorenzos_house displays for these families. They hold space for children and partners and make it the highest priority to make sure they are supported, too. Creative arts therapy is a powerful tool in managing dementia, enabling patients to express themselves when words may fail them. Through music, dance, painting and more, individuals with dementia can experience improved mood, communication and brain stimulation. This approach not only enhances the quality of life but also offers caregivers and families a deeper understanding of their loved ones' emotions and experiences. For a more detailed exploration of how these therapies can be integrated into dementia care, read more on my blog. https://lnkd.in/gmvQGfE3. #alzheimers #caregivers #memorycare #dementiacare #iamdementiaaware

Unfortunately, these two terms are often used interchangeably, and that is incorrect! It is crucial to know the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s. Dementia is a condition where the person’s thinking, memory, and ability to perform daily tasks progressively decline due to changes in the brain. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disease that leads to dementia. Is someone you care for facing the challenges of Alzheimer's or dementia? Don't let their journey be marked by struggles. At Sahan Cares, our specialised care and support give your loved one the care they deserve. #sahancares #alzheimerssupport #dementiaawareness #memorycare #brainhealth #neurologicalconditions #dementiacare #alzheimersawareness #braindisease #supportforseniors #memoryloss #seniorcaregiving #caringforlovedones #elderlycareuk #caregivers

Life Story books are invaluable tools in dementia care, offering a personalized and engaging approach to connect with individuals experiencing symptoms. These books typically contain a compilation of the person's life history, including significant events, preferences, achievements and cherished memories. For those with dementia symptoms, these books serve as anchors to their identity, providing comfort and familiarity. As memory declines, Life Story Books can act as visual and tactile reminders of one's life journey, fostering a sense of continuity and connection. Caregivers can use these books to spark conversations, trigger memories and create meaningful interactions, enhancing the overall well-being of individuals living with dementia. Here’s a guide to creating a Life Story book: https://lnkd.in/gfmvYDGz #alzheimersdisease #caregivers #memorycare #dementiacare #iamdementiaaware

Until there is a cure, dementia will continue to affect all of us. Most of us know someone experiencing it. We know a person living with it or we know their loved one. As an I’m Still Here® Center of Excellence, Fowler believes in the power of engagement and purpose for our residents with dementia and for their families. While we know community living gives people living with dementia and their loved ones quality life and plenty of support, we also know that residential memory care is expensive. And, we see many families do well with their loved one at home. Either way, we want to help. Caring for a person living with dementia can be overwhelming. Whether you provide daily caregiving, participate in decision making, or simply care about a person with the disease, there is help. As sponsor and home to #DementiaFriendlyDallas we offer empowering training and education to individuals and organizations about the dementia experience and how to be part of the solution. We encourage you to call us for more information about DFD and about our “I’m Still Here” approach to life. Other wonderful resources we highly recommend include Alzheimer's Association®, AARP, #CenterforBrainHealth and #TheSeniorSource. You are not alone. We see the need and we want to help! Give us a call at 214-827-0813. #alzheimers #dementia #memorycare #caregiversupport #imstillhere #youbelong
