Lush tourist resorts. An unassuming restaurant. The ordinary rooms of a parent’s house. These are some of the places where more than 25 women and girls were being trafficked in one country in Asia, undisclosed for security purposes. Over the span of a few weeks, The Exodus Road’s U.S. and Asia teams collaborated to follow leads on multiple different kinds of human trafficking exploitation. Some of the girls and women they sought to find were being trafficked through traditional means in a busy red-light district. Others were being advertised for escort services, sent to meet clients at the site of their choosing. And some were just children, living with parents who exploited them through livestreams sold to foreigners. With law enforcement partners, our investigators and advocates intervened in a series of operations executed in quick succession. Across multiple operations, they found and recovered more than 25 girls and young women. Every one of these survivors had endured abuse that left them in need of long-term, lasting care — heartbreakingly, some had been trafficked by family members, and others were trafficked by teenagers who had once been exploited themselves. All of the survivors have been placed with trusted aftercare partners who can offer them that care. In total, six perpetrators were arrested. Those who are 18 and older are facing trial for trafficking. Those who are still just teenagers themselves will be going through the juvenile justice system and restorative rehabilitation. Progress for freedom at this extensive level is only possible because of the role you play in supporting our teams around the world. Thank you!

If you had 4 kids, imagine a landlord suggesting you were hiding a larger family and threatening to do checks at your rented home to verify the number of children there. This isn’t fiction – it happened to an African-Australian family in Melbourne’s west. It is among several stories we have heard of rental racism, which is when people make assumptions and discriminate against a renter on the basis of their ethnicity. It is also illegal. The University of Melbourne partnered with Tenants Victoria to investigate racism in the renting sector, and especially how it affects people’s health. If you are, or have been, a renter with a multicultural background in the last 5 years, we invite you to complete our new survey about your housing experiences in Australia. Please share the survey with your multicultural networks so we can build evidence on renting and racial discrimination in the community. The Australian Childhood Maltreatment study found that more than one in three girls and one in five boys experience child sexual abuse. It’s crucial that we understand, and implement, what works to prevent sexual abuse and sexual assault among young people. We know that we need to educate adults about the risk of #ChildSexualAbuse, and what they can do to prevent it. We also need to talk directly with children and young people, so that they are empowered with knowledge about what abuse is, and how to stay safe online and in real life. The Stride team at Life Without Barriers has released a new series called 'The Sexual Safety Series'. It is six videos for young people about important topics including respectful relationships, consent, and sexual abuse. The videos contain evidence-based messages that aim to help teenagers identify problematic behaviors. The videos are freely available to young people, parents, carers and workers, and are a valuable tool to kickstart conversations about sexual safety. You can find the videos here: https://lnkd.in/gM5sNDwE and the full series on YouTube here: https://lnkd.in/gdpuEbdt ID: A teenage boy is on his bed looking at a phone. Every community addresses sexual violence differently. It’s a sensitive topic that many avoid discussing or acknowledging, yet addressing sexual violence is crucial in paving the road for the dissemination of it. When members of the AAPI community face sexual violence, there are barriers that prevent these members from seeking care. These may look like: - victim blaming - financial limitations - language barriers - cultural/ religious expectations - immigration status When offering support to any survivor/victim of sexual violence, begin by believing and listening. You could be the first person they have ever trusted enough to confide in. Hotline Number: 1-877-733-2273 FSL provides free counseling to all survivors of sexual violence. If you or your loved one is in need of counseling services, call our office for more information at 973-746-0800. • • • #AsianAmericanPacificIslander #AsianAmericanPacificIslanderHeritageMonth #Intersectionality #SexualAssault #SexualViolence #Survivor #Victim #Triggers #MentalHealthIsHealth #MentalHealthCheckIn #SelfCare #Advocacy #Empowerment #Validation #PTSD #FSL #SAVEOfEssex #EssexCounty #NJ

On #WorldDayAgainstTraffickinginPersons, Elevate Destinations is proud to be a member of The Code. The Code is the first and only voluntary set of business principles that companies can implement to prevent child trafficking. As a member of the Code, one of the guidelines that we adhere to is to provide adequate training for all of our employees who regularly interact with guests. Through PACT's anti-trafficking e-training for hotel staff and professional travelers, our employees learn about children's rights, the prevention of sexual exploitation in the hospitality industry, and the steps to report a suspected instance of trafficking. Education is the first step in child sex trafficking prevention. #LeaveNoChildBehind with anti-trafficking training for hospitality industry professionals: https://hubs.li/Q02G-d9D0 #ProtectAllChildrenFromTrafficking #EndTrafficking #WeArePACT

I am always challenged when I see people in a crowded place such as in the city or a shopping centre with a client while wearing an identifiable #lanyard or #branded T-shirt?! why?? Because it always identifys the individual as to their involvement with a service. I see people with employment agency workers, I see people with Criminal Justice workers. I see people with a range of NGO services and in most cases I am able to identify what is the underpinning issue they are connected with the service. I am no rocket scientist by the way, but in 9 out of 10 cases I can not only identify the worker, I know the nature of their worker and who the client is. (Not personally). I cringe when I see a worker proudly boasting a lanyard or a T- Shirt with the corporate brand on it, wheeling a trolley with groceries, a pillow and doona and a couple of towels and maybe some new clothes. The dude is involved in a homeless service, a justice program, NDIS or other program. I have no issue with a person being proud of the organisation they work for or proud of the work they do, but we bang on so much about people's privacy and work so hard not to breech it, ain't we doing that very thing when we drag people around while we wear our 'Corporate Bling' with so much pride?? Are we giving much thought to those we are working with, that we don't "Red Light" them and make the stigma and stero types even harder to overcome?? Not ajudgent, just an observation!!! #privacy #dignity #respect #humility #stigma #protection
