Advancing Animal Welfare & Transforming Food Systems | MSc, BS, MSL Candidate | Global Policy Consultant
🌊🌐 As an advocate for aquatic animal welfare deeply involved in the policy landscape, over the past year and a half I've dedicated countless hours to engaging in public consultations and providing international feedback to governments. 📄 Reading Max Carpendale's report for Animal Ask served as a validation, affirming our efforts at Aquatic Life Institute and highlighting the urgent need for attention to overlooked areas of animal advocacy. While the broader responsibilities of my role may limit my capacity to engage with every international consultation, this article reinforces the importance of our work in this area and the strategic approach we've adopted 🚀 👉 So, for those interested in diving deeper into this discussion and understanding the potential of strategic focus in policy advocacy, I highly recommend reading the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dtere_V3 Let's continue to strengthen our movement and make sure that no critical issue goes unnoticed or unaddressed! 💪 #AquaticLife #PolicyAdvocacy #StrategicFocus #Collaboration #AnimalRights

Splish, splash, our spotted hyenas love taking baths! Ngozi, Kelele and Tavi always enjoy a cool bubble bath or refreshing dip in the pool when the weather warms up. These fun bubble baths also serve as enrichment, as hyenas like to cache things in water and come back to them later. Our Animal Care staff hides exciting items for the clan to find and ups the challenge level by making the items hard to see with bubbles. Whenever the suds come out, our hyenas get extra excited to play! Treat our hyenas to a sudsy spa day! 🫧 Donate now: https://lnkd.in/eM_S7zF9

As wedding and graduation season approaches, we know that dove releases are planned for many events. Would we release a bunch of domestic cats far from home for entertainment and see if they make it home? We're unsure why it's ok to do that for pigeons and doves, when we wouldn't do it for any other domestic animal. The truth is - ceremonial dove releases are cruel. Happiness for these birds is having shelter, protection from predators, food, their flock. We take that away from them when they are released for show. Don't support dove/pigeon releases. We don't do it for dogs, cats, pigs, cattle, etc, so why would we do it for any other domestic animal? Oakrock.org #nonprofit #charity #animalrescue #farmanimals

Vouchers and monetary rewards for user studies are ok. But what if we supported animal shelters instead? 🐕 🐈 The recent survey has been closed, and as promised, I'm sharing the payment confirmation in the comments (92€ = 400 PLN). Going forward, donations to animal shelters will be my primary incentive for user interviews and testing sessions. #usertesting #research #userstudies #userinterviews

Founder @ Just Be Cause Consulting | Empowering Positive Impact | 🎙️ Host of the Just Be Cause Podcast
LOVE this example of a peer-to-peer campaign for animals: take notes everyone 🗒️ One of my clients, Australian Animal Protection Society launched their annual "Snores for Paws" event, where staff and volunteers come together to spend a night in the kennels with the pups 🐕 Here are a few of the things about this peer-to-peer campaign that I love: ☑️The activity is cause-related and mission-aligned: living the dogs' experience is a powerful message. ☑️ Each ambassador will participate in a collective event at the end: great team building opportunity! ☑️ Their fundraising objective has a concrete project: purchasing a transport van 🚐 ☑️ There are incentives to donate, supporting ambassadors in their efforts (a trip to the Hayman Islands 🏝️😍) ☑️They have mobilized many ambassadors (44!), including sponsors, to reach their objective. If you are thinking of launching a peer-to-peer campaign, these are some of the things you need to plan BEFORE launching the campaign: 1️⃣ A long list of ambassadors 2️⃣ Matching donors or sponsors 3️⃣ Incentives or mobilizing activities to boost participation 4️⃣ A concrete objective attached to your fundraising goal I was happy to support Megan Benton, the AAPS Executive Director, in reaching her objective and hopefully winning a trip to a tropical island 🤞! If ever you want to support this campaign and help some Australian pups, I invite you to donate at the link in the comments below ⬇️

£7,165 a month in your bank, but still children are suffering? The NSPCC has a new CEO… Protecting children is something that is deeply close and personal to my heart, and something I have worked hard in my career for - so congratulations to Chris Sherwood for becoming CEO on £140,000-150,000 a year. But should protecting children, from an office in the bowels of gentrified Shoreditch, cost £7,165+ (after tax) rolling in your bank account every month? That’s not to mention the 3 deputies that are on £120,000-130,000 a year! Are we really going to accept that - in a country that continues to see children fall through the net and child safeguarding reviews are almost on a monthly cycle - the people in these posts care in the centre of their heart about protecting our children? A few years ago, I stayed on the phone to the emergency duty team at 9pm because a child was potentially being abused. My shift finished at 6pm. I was on below the average salary, but I worked extra hard, for free to stop another abused child. The breakdown of the NSPCC top earners is here: £60k to £70k - 35 employees £70k to £80k - 17 “ £80k to £90k - 10 “ £100k to £110k - 2 “ £110k to £120k - 1 “ £120k to £130k - 3 “ £140k to £150k - 1 “ (https://lnkd.in/erMPe6g8) I’m not saying get rid of the NSPCC, but we have the priorities all wrong. When is the time we have a conversation about skills vs money vs protection vs morals for big charity?
We're delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Sherwood as the new Chief Executive of the NSPCC. Chris will take up the position in January 2025, having served as Chief Executive of the RSPCA, the world's oldest and largest animal protection charity, since August 2018. Chris said: “I am thrilled to be joining the NSPCC. I firmly believe in a society where all children are not just protected from harm, but they have the support, kindness and respect needed to live happy, joyful and fulfilling lives and be the best version of themselves.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/dPKnciyi
