During the war we were able to access universal childcare in order to work and when the men returned it was taken away. During the pandemic we were able to access remote and flexible working and now (mostly men) want to erode those options. Furious isn’t really the word.

Great article. I’m trying to break the generational cycle of women having to surpress their anger with my daughter, and actively encourage her to recognise and let those feelings out, in a safe space. It’s ok to be angry, bottling it up is what causes the problems and we need to feel ok letting it out in positive / constructive ways.

I don't know if they are "angry", but rather they are physically and mentally exhausted. When we encounter certain cultures, societies, and mentalities, where the idea persists that the care of children, the elderly, and the sick falls on women. And they become invisible to others. Many have to juggle to be able to combine it with their career. Most give up on their dreams because they cannot balance them, the feeling of guilt for not 'being good mothers' and not being at home, others change careers to be able to spend more time with their family and then some families move to another country to seek help from their family because they can't afford to pay someone to help them... Perhaps that anger is due to the feeling of not being heard.

Great article but is it worthy of the Guardian? How did you measure women's anger 'around the world ', in Brazil, S.Arabia, Afghanistan China, Russia, Indonesia, ...? It makes good reading like the extracts of any novel on social behaviour. Essentially females of species, mainly mammals, have been observed to be more vicious, angry, wild, unpredictable, and protective of their babies. Let's not flatten all the inbuilt differences which are part of nature. It should have no bearing on equal opportunity for all disregarding colour, gender and crede.

So who's measuring this and who was in a position to give it the go ahead?

I was calm when I opened the link to read this article about women’s rising anger… and then I came back and read some of the comments from men here … 😡
