📰 When the media refers to individuals as "protesters," it’s essentially denying the reality of genocide. It's crucial to differentiate between those who are protesting things like tax cuts—where the label of "protester" fits accurately—and those who are defending their land. 🔍 Calling them protesters undermines the seriousness of their cause. A genocide is a harsh reality, not just a protest. The same goes for apartheid and genocide—these are undeniable facts. 🛡️ So who should actually be called protesters when they are standing up against these injustices? It’s a form of denial to label them as such. They are not just protesters, but defenders and protectors of their land and people. 💪🌍

Why Sonam Wangchuk's demand struggling? here are some points which demonstrate why the Govt's hesitancy in acceptance of demand - 1. Statehood Status: Wangchuk advocates for Ladakh to be granted full statehood within India. If accepted, it would give Ladakh greater autonomy and control over its own governance. 2. Inclusion in the 6th Schedule of the constitution: The Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution provides special protections for tribal communities. Inclusion in this schedule would safeguard Ladakh's unique culture and heritage from outside influences. Govt's delaying in the process because of strategic Importance of Ladakh, which are - 1. Strategic Location : Ladakh sits at the crossroads of Central-South Asia, and China. It borders Pakistan and China, making it a crucial region for national security. 2. High Altitude Advantage: Ladakh's high altitude terrain provides a natural advantage for military deployment and surveillance. It allows India to monitor activity across the borders. 3.Buffer Zone: Ladakh acts as a buffer zone between India and its rivals. It provides additional depth for military response and troop mobilization in case of conflict. 4. Gateway to Central Asia: Ladakh serves as a potential gateway to trade with Central Asian countries. Developing infrastructure and relations in Ladakh could boost regional trade. 5. Water Security: Ladakh's glaciers are the source of major rivers that flow into North India. Protecting Ladakh's fragile ecosystem is vital for water security across the nation. #Ladakh #India #Policy #Defense #Geopolitics #SonamWangchuk #StatehoodForLadakh #NationalSecurity #WaterSecurity #CentralAsia

Inner Peace Expertin und Business Mentorin für Konflikttransformation |🎙Host des The Peaceful Path Podcast
In recent years, we've witnessed a troubling trend: the systematic dismantling of civil rights, including the fundamental right to protest. Amnesty International's campaign to "Protect the Protest" is a crucial reminder of the importance of safeguarding this essential democratic right. I have seen first-hand how the ability to protest peacefully is not only a hallmark of a healthy democracy but also a vital mechanism for social change and conflict transformation. However, the erosion of this right poses significant risks to both democratic integrity and social stability. Research by Erica Chenoweth and Maria J. Stephan ("Why Civil Resistance Works" 2011) highlights that non-violent movements are more effective in achieving sustainable outcomes than violent ones. This effectiveness is due to the broad-based participation and moral legitimacy that peaceful protests command. The ongoing efforts to undermine the right to protest are not just an attack on individual freedoms but a direct threat to the peace and cohesion of our societies. Because, when citizens are silenced, grievances are left unaddressed, often leading to increased tension and even more potential conflict. We must stand united against any attempts to curtail our civil liberties. Protecting the right to protest is not only about safeguarding democracy but also about ensuring that we can continue to advocate for justice, equality, and peace. What do you think, how can we, as a society, better support and protect the right to peaceful protest? #protecttheprotest #civilrights #peacefulprotest #democracy #socialchange
Peaceful protest is a human right that MUST be protected. Anytime. Anywhere. We have to #ProtectTheProtest.
