Everyone talks about hiring an A-player, but how do you identify someone who is not? Identifying someone who is not an A-player involves observing certain characteristics. They often lack initiative, showing minimal growth and performing inconsistently. Their engagement is low, and they rarely take on new challenges or contribute beyond their basic responsibilities. Problem-solving and communication skills are weak, and they may exhibit a negative attitude or resist change. Additionally, they tend to be unreliable, missing deadlines and require constant supervision. These signs indicate that the individual may not be an A-player in the organization.

Newly join with knowing no one, new to everyone as one of your team, you are the one he/she put the trust first in the company. Why We Don’t Hire Workaholics OktoBuzz During a recent team talk, I shared something that resonates deeply with how we hire at OktoBuzz: Kevin O'Leary, aka Mr. Wonderful, once said, “We don’t hire workaholics because they don’t have balance. They haven’t seen more life.” This got me thinking about an analogy that perfectly captures this mindset. Think of an F1 tire—it’s designed for speed, maximum performance, and quick results. But it burns out in just a few laps. Now, compare that to the tires of an everyday car. These tires don't just race; they take us home, to parks, gyms, offices, hikes, and vacations. They are built to handle a variety of terrains and experiences. They represent resilience, adaptability, and balance. In our team, we aren’t looking for F1 tires. We value those everyday car tires—individuals who bring balance, exposure, and versatility to the table. They’ve seen more, lived more, and bring that diverse experience into their work.
