⏱ 15 days and counting until Prodactive’s Big Adventure 2024 in support of Scotty's Little Soldiers – which means time for another competition! 🏆 We’re now just 15 days out before Philip R. and I embark on our 2024 ‘Big Adventure’ on 8-9 June, which this year is running a lap of the Isle of Wight over 2 days. We've previously run the East Highland Way (82 miles) and the West Highland Way (100 miles – meant to be 96, but we accidentally added on 4 miles) in Scotland. This year we’re supporting Scotty's Little Soldiers, a hugely impactful charity which supports children of UK servicemen and women who lost their lives while serving their country. In the past we have run ‘for the hell of it’, but in line with our mission to help unlock potential and our support for UK Armed Forces leavers through our Smartsheet programme, we wanted to highlight the work Scotty’s does. This incredible charity changes the lives of bereaved military children by supporting them and helping to unlock their potential. Just one fantastic example is that of Poppy Swinnerton, who is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu junior world champion aged 15, and dreams of becoming a UFC fighter. https://lnkd.in/eAcVWXq5 We’ve set up an event dashboard on our website, which is unsurprisingly driven from a Smartsheet dashboard, and here you can find out more about the challenge and Scotty’s Little Soldiers. And during the event we will be updating on our progress via our dashboard as we go. 🙌 So how can you get involved? You’re more than welcome to join Phil and me and run as much or as little as you want – or you can donate to Scotty’s and / or enter our competition to win 10 hours of our professional services support by guessing most closely the total moving time it takes us to complete the route. Like last year, there are 2 sets of 10 hours up for grabs - one is for Smartsheet employees where the winner will be able to nominate a Smartsheet customer of their choice to receive 10 hours of complementary Prodactive consultancy, and the other is open to everyone else to win another 10 hours of complementary Prodactive consultancy. We have no idea how long it will take us, so we can’t give you any clues, but here are the results from the previous two runs where we were carrying 10kg packs: 2023 East Highland Way: 81 miles in 19 hrs 45 2022 West Highland Way: 100 miles in 24 hrs 49 mins To donate or to enter, head over to our event dashboard where you can also see our training and comparisons to our training in 2022 and 2023: https://lnkd.in/ePSF2B-G #smartsheet #peakhuman #ikigai

MEET THE TEAM! We're entering a team into this year's UK Challenge raising money for www.beefysfoundation.org As they are in the midst of some intensive training 😉 let's shine a light on them and celebrate their dedication and commitment to winning. Today's team member is John Hanson, we asked him a few questions so you can get to know a bit about him... 1. Why did you decide to do the UK Challenge? To ensure Chris Luckham OBE survives the challenge(he’s looking a bit chunky these days) – patrol medic certificate is packed. 2. What are you looking to get. out of it? A free hydration kit and friends for life! 3. Which bits excits and scare you the most? Watching Chris try do a brain puzzle – should be an interesting study for the follow on to Sapiens! 4. What training are you doing for the event? Cycling/running. 5. What other 'challenge' do you like doing in your spare time? Camel tracking and surfing. There'll be more introductions to our team as we near the event! #ukchallenge #beefyfoundation #teamwork

🙌 Help Para Rowing Foundation celebrate an epic achievement by 4 high school athletes in Washington DC! Para Rowing Foundation is a non-profit with a global mission; to power athletes with impairments around the world to fulfil their potential through rowing by creating access, opportunities and inclusion. We can only fund initiatives through the generous donations of supporters like you. How delighted were we then to recieve notice that a group of non-para rowers in the States decided to do something epic to support para rowing… and PRF were selected as the fundraising beneficiary. ‘Epic’ looked like a 24-hour session on the rowing machine in 1-hour shifts, live-streamed. ‘Epic’ looked like more than a third-of-a-million metres covered, non-stop. ‘Epic’ looked like $3,450 raised through their supporters, way beyond their $2k target. ‘Epic’ looked like 2 super-subs on hand to step in when needed in order to keep that erg spinning for a full day, Ethan Puckett and Brandon Lo. The young crew (some of which had never met beforehand) overcame mental, physical and even electrical challenges (a power cut midway demanded neighbours to get creative by running power cables down the street!) and stayed motivated enough to complete the job. PRF’s Chair got straight onto a vcall with 3 of the crew to hear the story first-hand and was blown away by their experience, achievement and desire to support para rowing. “Truly epic! It was the first time these guys took on such an endurance rowing challenge but I don’t think it’ll be the last. We’re honoured that they chose to support para athletes through work of PRF. We’ll put the funds they raised to work right away!” -🟢 Steven Dowd, Executive Chair, PRF Join PRF in congratulating and thanking: 👏Ethan Smith of Langley Crew 👏Dillan Pakes of Warhawk Crew 👏Liam Ballew of Warhawk Crew 👏Justin Blagrove of Wakefield Crew Do you have an epic fundraising idea you’d like to share? Would you like to support para athletes globally through the work of PRF? Please let us know at info@pararowingfoundation.org. #ParaRowing #CharityChallenge #Fundraising

CrossFit, LLC has announced a plan to offer 50 $10,000 CrossFit Foundation School Fund Grants in the first half of 2024 to domestic and international schools that want to form nonprofit affiliates for students. “We know that healthier people make the world around them better, so our goal is to bring the life-changing potential of CrossFit to more people, in more ways,” said Don Faul, CEO of CrossFit. “Change happens at a local level, and these grants are helping schools introduce the concept of fitness for a lifetime to one child at a time. As a result, kids across the world are developing a lifelong love of fitness, gaining confidence, and becoming part of a supportive community at a critical age.” Since 2019, CrossFit has awarded 57 grants to K-12 schools. In total, 407 school affiliates are operating today. Fitness brands listen up! Take a page out of CrossFit, LLC playbook here: Every fitness and health conference I attend there is the same discussion being had by every major player in the industry. "How can we engage the 80% of the population that doesn't participate in consistent exercise?" Having spent a part of my career building & running a physical education program in a 7-12 school, the answer to me is simple. However you need to be willing to play the LONG game. YOUTH PHYSICAL EDUCATION. Over my 4+ years teaching foundational physical education, I saw first hand the transformational changes & confidence that can be built in youth when they are properly educated around movement, health and play. I had countless students that went from hating physical activity to loving the process. My favorite moments and the ones that gave me the most pride were when a recently graduated student would come back to visit. They would often tell me they are teaching their fellow freshman at the University Rec center how to properly do a deadlift, or they had joined a rec sport that we introduced them to in class. Joy and confidence to try new things should be the catalyst for participation in physical activity as an adult, and it starts by learning to love things when you are young. #physicaleducation #fitness #connectedfitness #digitalhealth.

Wow where has 2023 gone? It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed since I took the decision to step away from a 27year career with a great company (FedEx) and retire a decision that surprised a few people not least my Children who thought that I would never retire. However retirement was never ever going to be about stopping, it was always about changing gears and re-balancing life, 2023 has been my year of de-compression where I have focused on three things. 1. Family, grandchildren make you reflect on how quickly your own children grew up and think about what you missed or sacrificed along the way, which makes you value those early years with them. 2. Running, I have been able to channel time and energy into my passion for running completing 3 marathons across three continents (Tokyo, Berlin, and Chicago) my preparation involved running 13 half marathons, and 6 x10K races. Improving both my physical and mental health, along the way, running is so great for head space. Running has also enabled me to give back, by fundraising for charities such as Centrepoint.org.uk. I have also had time to join a running club (Silverdale Running Club), which is like having an extended family, they have provided so much support, advice and encouragement that has improved my running significantly (Strava tells me that I have achieved 198 PB’s during 2023), which probably shows how slow I was before joining SRC. 3. Life-long learning, studying for a master’s level qualification in Behavioural science with Warwick University, this feeds the mind and creates even more social connections through an exceptionally diverse and smart cohort. So, what’s in store for 2024? Family, I don’t think there will be anymore grandchildren, but you never know! spending time with the family will remain a priority we have a special holiday planned (22 of us) Running, complete my BIG6 global marathon challenge for the Abbott 6Star medal, my place in Boston is confirmed, more to come on this. I have also joined the North Staffordshire Road Runners league (NSRRA), I am looking to representing SRC. Life-long learning, the journey continues towards that graduation ceremony. Who knows what other opportunities and challenges will present themselves in 2024. What’s in store for you in 2024? Trevor
