Now...we don't want to jinx it but it is looking like the last few days of the school holidays might be, dare we say it, a little drier than they have been. So if you've been going stir crazy being stuck in the house in the rain and storms, if the kids have got cabin fever - well now's your chance to get outdoors!! Heading outside for a walk or to play is free, it’s good for your mind and body, it’s easy to do, and it breaks up the monotony of being at home. You don’t have to drive hours to a beauty spot for this to be a good option, even if you head to the local play park or mooch in your local area, you’ll all feel better for having gotten outsides. If you're looking for something specific to do outdoors before the kids are back at school, you could even get involved with the ‘Don’t Lose Your Way’ campaign from The Ramblers Association – a project designed to save thousands of miles of accessible footpaths from being shut off to the public. One of the greatest wishes as a parent is to have your children enjoy being together. This past Friday and Saturday, my four sons Brighton Rust, Mark Rust, Michael Rust, and Stephen Rust met in Utah to ski at Snowbird and Snowbasin Resort. As parents, we always want the best for our children and it's no different when it comes to enjoying winter. In Cleveland, winter can be dark, cold, overcast, and dreary. However, we found a way to transform that difficulty into a blessing by buying our kids season ski passes. On the day, people reported spending an average of 102 active minutes outside on the day of the celebration—achieving more than 2/3 of the recommended 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Celebrate Trails Day highlighted the meaningful influence that even one day on the trail can have on our lives, as well as underscored the value of having safe, connected outdoor spaces in communities where people can exercise and get around their communities without a car.
