Got a minute? Read my blog below to learn more about Alisa and Deanna's key takeaways on accessibility and inclusion within child helplines.
Providing exclusive resources for our child helpline members is a core component of our Learning Strategy. Recently, we ran a workshop on "Accessibility, Inclusion & Child Helplines", led by expert speakers Alisa Simon and Deanna Dunham from our Canadian member, Kids Help Phone. The workshop brought together dedicated professionals from across our network of member child helplines, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experiences on inclusive practice and explore obstacles and opportunities to increasing accessibility. The workshop also included several hands-on activities designed to reinforce the concepts discussed. Our Learning Coordinator, Laura Holliday, looks back at the session, revealing some of the highlights and the key takeaways. https://loom.ly/6rHD_Lc #ChildHelplines #EveryChildHasAVoice

There is a marked difference between the judiciary and the government in dealing with disabled persons. I have several writ petitions in Delhi High Court seeking implementation of provisions of “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”. My experience has been that the government would try to find ways to avoid such implementation or at least to drag it out to the utmost extent. Whereas, the judges would be impressively proactive in getting to see that the assistance and facilities provided under the law for disabled persons get implemented when brought to their notice. #disability #ministryofsocialjustice #government #disabilities #court #judge #law #judiciary
