💧🌱 Today we celebrate #WorldWetlandsDay! Wetlands are a critical source of life for #PeopleAndNature. About 40% of the world's plant and animal species depend on #wetlands and these amazing ecosystems provide more than 1 billion livelihoods across the world! With that in mind, it's easy to see how the #rewilding of wetlands has huge potential in terms of reversing biodiversity loss, enhancing climate change mitigation and adaptation, and improving people’s health, well-being, and economic outlook. 💚💪 A few years back, Rewilding Danube Delta created a short film to show you how this translates to on the ground actions, bringing back wilder nature, supporting wildlife comeback and boosting a healthy environment for local people that supports them and that they can be proud of. Harvesting is ugly. Theres no other way to say it… Which is why it is so important to be SURE you have a solid purpose for it! You must have a strong goal and why the harvest was done (and this can be for many reasons, including profit BUT it must be true for you.) You must also have a strong purpose for the land: WHAT management practices are meant to work and create towards! Because forest management is a long term game… 25 years on the SHORT side of things! Which is why 2 Corinthians 4:18 speaks to me so much: So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. As landowners, you continue to work towards what is not seen right now… but our management have long-lasting, impacts.
