🔴 Israel’s strike on Iran early on Friday appears to have been limited. The Iranian regime will likely be breathing a sigh of relief – its ageing air defence systems would struggle to stand up to a substantial aerial bombardment on the scale launched by #Tehran last weekend. #Iran is reliant on a string of locally developed missile #defence batteries and Soviet-era hardware, as well as American and British equipment that was stationed in the country before the Islamic Revolution. The systems are incomparable to Israel’s modern Iron Dome surface-to-air defence system, which helped deflect hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones, with the help of American, #British and French fighter jets. The UK plans to deploy a UK-made hypersonic cruise missile by 2030 in an effort to catch up with China, Russia, and the United States in developing weapons capable of flying at speeds higher than Mach 5. The Ministry of Defence has expressed interest in designing and building the missile in the UK for potential use by the end of the decade. Hypersonic weapons offer high speeds that can evade air defense systems due to their speed and maneuverability. The specific launch method for the missile has not yet been determined, but plans are in the early stages. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has committed to spending 2.5% of GDP on defense by 2030. The MoD has declined to comment further on the development of hypersonic missile capability, citing national security concerns, but it is actively pursuing hypersonic technologies to enhance UK advanced capabilities. Signing the WISŁA Phase 2 Offsets represents another critical step in Poland's air and missile defense modernization strategy. With #Northropgrumman's #IBCS as the enabling command and control architecture, Poland's medium and short range air and missile defense systems will be fully integrated with state of the art capabilities. These offsets projects will transfer key technology and capabilities to our Polish industry partners as together we work to ensure a strong, sovereign Poland. In addition to supporting the IBCS system, the offset agreement also included an ammunition cooperative production program to produce advanced ammunition for Poland's defense requirements. #definingpossible
