Karen Tan describes herself as “partially insane” and “a risk taker” – much-needed qualities when you're the co-Founder of local independent cinema experience The Projector, whose tagline reads "Not your average cinema". Together with her sister Sharon Tan, and her former colleague at Citi, Blaise Trigg-Smith, Karen founded The Projector's Golden Mile Tower flagship branch, despite having no background in film nor knowledge of consumer operations. “I think about it as a counterpoint or ‘mental breathing space’ in a highly polished and planned city,” she says.
