Dear colleagues, I have recently joined the editorial board of the International Journal and Molecular Sciences to co-edit the special issue “Molecular Advances in Plant Plasticity upon Abiotic Stresses” (https://lnkd.in/dHWPFehR). In this frame, I would like to invite you to submit your research to this Special Issue. You can submit research and review articles, as well as short communications. Please notice that all manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on the Special Issue website. #plantstressresponse #abioticstress #plantplasticity #plantbreeding

Software for Computer-Assisted Structure Elucidation by NMR (CASE, in short) have been proposed to the scientific community for quite a long time, as Mikhail reminded us. Their actual use by chemists is however still difficult to measure. What happens in private companies cannot be accessed. What happens in academic institutions is reported only through lists of bibliographic references in scientific publications. The articles that cite CASE software and for which the authors are not professionally related at all to CASE software developers are rather rare, as far as I know. A thorough search for such articles would help to obtain a better view of the use of CASE software in academic chemistry laboratories.
First aimed at structure elucidation for small organic molecules, CASE has been evolving and assisting scientists for 50+ years now. In this Special Issue of Molecules, co-guest editor Dr. Mikhail E. Elyashberg showcases modern advances in CASE development and shares a few examples of what it can do today.

The fact that this has to be stated should clearly illustrate how dogmatic and un-objective our scientific research and publication process has become. Divergent Thinking and listening to dissenting voices with empathy and openess is where real science progress is made. Adopting Consensus (via Plead to Authority) or following a single narrative is where science ends. https://lnkd.in/gvpqH9ez

#SyntheticBiology crafts biological elements into practical components, which are then used in the field of #EngineeringBiology to transform these concepts into real-world solutions for the challenges we face. And a recent paper from #ScienceAdvances – by AAAS – outlines how we ought to think beyond the 'single best design' mindset and explore the uncharted territory of creativity in biological design.
