Itโs pretty much impossible to go a day without interacting with plastic โ but have you ever considered just how much this exposure to plastic impacts your health? Research has shown that airborne microplastics cause the average human to inhale up to 16.2 bits of plastic every hour โ the equivalent of an entire credit card every week! ๐คฏ So where do these microplastics come from? Cosmetics, clothing, industrial processes and packaging materials are all big contributors to microplastics, whether thatโs the product itself or the packaging itโs housed in. Reducing the plastics we put into the atmosphere by opting for sustainable alternatives is the key to all contributing to the fight against microplastics. What changes have you made to reduce your personal impact? #microplastics #nanoplastics #plasticpollution #airpollution #pollution #pollutionawarenss #airquality

Plastic: A friendly Story Gone Wrong (Part 1) โ๏ธ Remember when plastic was the hero? Lightweight, versatile, and seemingly magical, it revolutionized our lives. From adorable toys to dependable food packaging, it became an indispensable part of our everyday existence. ๏ธ But like all love stories, ours with plastic has taken a dark turn. What started as a convenient invention has morphed into a monstrous environmental crisis. Let's rewind: The 1950s: Plastic bursts onto the scene, promising a future of endless possibilities. Bakelite dishes! Vinyl records! Indestructible Tupperware! The 1960s-70s: Production skyrockets, driven by consumerism and a booming economy. Plastic becomes disposable, a symbol of progress and convenience. ๏ธ The 1980s-90s: We start noticing the downside. Plastic bags choke waterways, landfills overflow, and microplastics infiltrate our food chain. โ ๏ธ The tide turns, and plastic's once-charming narrative crumbles. We see it for what it truly is: A fossil fuel: Made from crude oil, its production guzzles resources and pollutes the air. โฝ๏ธ A toxic soup:Additives like BPA and phthalates leach into our bodies, raising health concerns. An ecological nightmare:From choking marine life to disrupting ecosystems, plastic's footprint is devastating. ๏ธ We're drowning in plastic, literally and figuratively. And the worst part? Most of it is used just once, then discarded. โ๏ธ So, what went wrong? Was plastic inherently evil, or did we fall for its charms too blindly? That's what we'll explore next time. Stay tuned, and let's discuss why plastic, despite its initial allure, wasn't the love story we thought it was. #PlasticPollution #Sustainability #EnvironmentalCrisis #esg
