🏴 Gareth Southgate and his men are back on the screens tonight in the knockout stages. 🏴 ⚽️ I think we all agree that the talent within the team is exceptional, we should get the result but all the talent are individuals and are not knitting together as a TEAM! Players having unbelievable talent and being asked to play in a way that’s not necessarily to their strengths - happens a lot in businesses too. We have the talent within the team but the results don’t show that or we need are stars within the business to at times play a different role, do something different and still perform to the standard they set themselves. Does that resonate with you? Do you have stars within the team that you are asking more of but they don’t know how to perform in that way? (Phil Foden) Do you have stars within your team that are new to the role that are learning in the job but have all the talent in the world (Mainoo) Don’t be a Gareth Southgate, you have more time to adapt and have yet to reach that knockout stage - you are still in group stages so have enough time to make those changes effectively. https://lnkd.in/eAWj7nfH

After last nights performance - this couldn't be more of a reality statement? Scrapping to get the result you need with a team full of superstars - sitting there thinking how can this be? We have to be winning comfortably - should be a breeze to get the result we need. BUT from observation, a couple of tired legs (fatigue), team members still playing in positions that are not suitable for them (superstars can't be superstars at everything), struggle to get the momentum together (starts causing frustration) and then thinking a win's a win but really going in to the next day is there going to be much of a change? This is what happens in businesses up and down the country - important decisions go a miss, bung top performers together and expect the best results and then scratch your head when it only just works. PS - still here to help if this resonates with you.

Here's another reflection on what Amanda Landsaw said at the #MACMA industry day event last week. To keep your customers, you need to intervene when their engagement lags. I mention a few things to consider in designing such a process for your organization.
