【Sudden: Canadian railways may strike as early as August 22nd】 The container explosion incident at Ningbo Port yesterday went viral, fortunately there were no casualties. A wave has not yet subsided, and another wave has risen again. There has just been a big news on the Canadian railway side. The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) has just ruled that two Canadian railway companies The strikes in CanadianNational(CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City(CPKC)do not pose a threat to public health and safety, clearing legal barriers for union strikes. Because there is a 13 day cooling off period before the actual strike, this also means that if a labor agreement is not reached, the railway union can strike as early as August 22nd. According to regulations, the union must notify the railway company of the strike time 72 hours in advance, if it is really necessary to strike in the end. The Railway Union (The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference) welcomes CIRB's decision. At present, CN and CPKC are continuing to mediate with labor unions in an effort to avoid strikes, despite government intervention. According to the latest statement from the railway company, they believe that the conditions offered (personnel arrangements, safety issues, benefits, etc.) are already very reasonable, but the union does not think so.

📣 Railway strikes in Germany // Delays in transit times to be expected In the wage dispute with Deutsche Bahn, the Gewerkschaft Deutscher Lokomotivführer (GDL) has once again called on its members to strike. The freight transport strike will begin on Wednesday, March 6, 6 p.m., and is scheduled to last until Friday, March 8, 5 a.m. Delays in transit times are therefore to be expected for transports to and from the European northern ports. Our rail service providers will not be on strike. We therefore assume that our timetables can be adhered to. However, there may be train cancellations if DB signal boxes are on strike. #gebrüderweiss #gwmoves #transport #logistics #railway #strike #germany #gwworld

“A one-week strike on October 1 would lead to large congestion problems into mid-November, according to Sea-Intelligence, while a two-week strike would mean ports would not get back to normal operations until 2025.” 96% of local 514 votes in favor of a strike. If you aren’t diverting freight in the short term it would be wise to examine alternate ports. #portlogistics #internationallogistics #splash247 #logimark #arcglobal #containerlogistics #oceanfreight
