We are excited to announce the release of the first BEYOND policy brief:🎉👏 Questionable research practices (QRPs) and research misconduct (RM) have a significant effect on society, the economy, and researchers. Research ethics and integrity are promoted through shared accountability (individual and institutional), and the BEYOND project, financed by Horizon EU, discovered a variety of socio-economic repercussions of research misconduct. A few of the most important conclusions and suggestions are presented in the first BEYOND policy brief. This policy brief analyses QRPs and RM consequences using a socio-economic impact assessment technique. As part of a comprehensive framework that considers socio-economic implications, it also offers recommendations for future study and policy. https://lnkd.in/gaW2VXNx

AN ATTEMPT TO PUBLISH DATA ALREADY PUBLISHED ELSEWHERE Explore a case study involving the submission of a research paper with identical data to a previous publication by the same authors. Discover the ethical concerns, rejection by the journal, and subsequent actions taken by the editor, including a proposed ban on submissions by the authors. 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: After a rigorous process, the National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (𝗡𝗔𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗜) approved our Institutional Scientific and Ethics Review Committee (𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗖) to function as a centre for the review of Social Science research protocols. This new development will greatly enhance our research practice, particularly because NACOSTI only issues research permits to researchers after they undergo the ethics review process. We are excited about this! 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲: https://lnkd.in/dR-qraiJ

Receiving IRB approval to begin data collection can be daunting. It took me three rejections before IRB approved my research study. Decades of documented horrors in the name of science have guided IRB to what it is today. If you’re curious about IRBs past and present, or just want a refresher, read my latest publication titled Ethics in Research: An Overview for Novice Researchers. #JLAE https://lnkd.in/gwvSEeFT

Setting standards and procedures to improve research quality and safeguard the public. Ethical review and site assessment are two distinct processes relating to the ethical approval and institutional authorization of research involving humans. Ethical and scientific quality, promoting good practice, reducing adverse incidents, ensuring lessons are learned and preventing poor performance and misconduct are also some of the best practices in research governance

Introduction: Introduce the topic, outline the research question, and justify why it's important. 3. Literature Review: Review relevant literature to demonstrate an understanding of the topic and its existing research. 4. Research Objectives: Clearly state the objectives or aims of your research. 5. Methodology: Explain your research approach, methods, data collection techniques, and analysis. 6. Significance: Discuss the potential significance, impacts, and contributions of your research. 7. Timeline: Develop a timeline or schedule outlining the various stages of your research. 8. References: Include a list of all the sources cited in your proposal. Remember to tailor your research proposal to the specific guidelines or requirements of the institution or funding body you are submitting it to.
