Kearney Report: Fashion Stuck in 'Business as Usual' Mode. As a sustainability professional, it’s disheartening to see the latest findings from Kearney's 2024 Circular Fashion Index (CFX), which highlights that many global fashion brands remain "all talk, no action" when it comes to true progress toward circularity and sustainability. Despite public commitments, significant gaps persist in implementing substantial actions necessary for creating a sustainable future in fashion. While suppliers have made remarkable strides, ready and willing to apply circularity and sustainable materials, the brand side lags, sticking to business-as-usual approaches. This reluctance is understandable given the current economic challenges, declining sales, global conflicts, and overall insecurity have shifted the focus away from sustainability. However, now more than ever, we need a fresh perspective in the industry. Embracing sustainability and circularity isn't just about environmental responsibility; it’s a strategy to revitalize businesses and attract a new wave of conscious consumers eager to be part of the green change. Let's push for this transformation together.
