In June of 1998, during our senior year of high school, my parents went to Puerto Vallarta, leaving me to hold down the fort in Chicago. Around that time, my friend Jerry faced some serious issues at home and needed a place to stay. Without hesitation, I welcomed him in. We spent a few weeks sharing my home, navigating the challenges of teenage life together. Fast forward to Ozzfest that year – a weekend we had all been eagerly anticipating. Jerry had promised to drive me to meet the rest of our friends. I put my faith in him, trusting that he would come through. However, on the weekend of the event, he never showed up, leaving me stranded and deeply disappointed. This not only ruined my plans for the weekend but also damaged our friendship. Trust is a fragile thing, and being let down by someone I considered a close friend was a harsh lesson in the importance of reliability and commitment. This experience taught me a few valuable lessons that have resonated throughout my career: Trust but Verify: While it’s essential to trust your colleagues and partners, having a backup plan is crucial. In business, just like in life, contingencies ensure continuity and success. Resilience in the Face of Disappointment: Being let down by Jerry was a tough pill to swallow, but it reinforced the importance of resilience. In the professional world, setbacks are inevitable. What matters is how we bounce back and learn from them. Support Systems Matter: Offering Jerry a place to stay was my way of supporting a friend in need. In business, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment can make a significant difference in team morale and productivity. Commitment to Follow-Through: Jerry’s failure to follow through on his promise highlighted the importance of reliability. In our professional lives, being dependable and honoring commitments builds trust and strengthens relationships. This story from my past serves as a reminder of the importance of trust, resilience, support, and commitment in both personal and professional contexts. Let’s strive to embody these values in our work, ensuring we build strong, reliable, and supportive teams. #LifeLessons #BusinessValues #TrustAndResilience #CommitmentToExcellence

After 25 years in business, one time-honored tradition we have here at Golden Rule is our monthly breakfast meetings. Here are the top five reasons that I continue to provide a meal for the whole company once a month. 1. Community: Working in the trades can feel isolating at times. Spending all day riding around in a truck to strangers houses can take a toll on your company culture. One of the many ways we cultivate a culture of teamwork and collaboration is by coming together as a whole every month. 2. Core Values: Going over core values during onboarding and hanging some posters on the wall does next to nothing to ensure that your team actually understands and embodies the values of the business. At every company meeting, we go over the R.U.L.E.S. to Live By to keep them front of mind. 3. Communication: Nobody likes a meeting that should have been an email but sometimes it's worse to have an email that should have been a meeting. As our business expands, I always prefer to share big updates with my entire team face-to-face. 4. Gratitude: Our company breakfast meetings are a chance for our team to relax together and share a meal. It's my way of saying "thank you" every month to the people that make this business a reality. 5. Goals: We take time during each monthly meeting to go over the business goals for the quarter. Celebrating past accomplishments can only be impactful if your team knows what to work towards in the first place. Interested in learning more about why we gather as a Golden Rule family every month? Let's connect and talk about it!

I just signed a contract with my DREAM client. 😱 It’s been an incredible journey to get here, and I’m honestly still in awe. As I typed my name into the electronic agreement, it felt like a real pinch me moment, and I’ve been reflecting on how we got here. It feels like everything we’ve worked for at Javelina has led to this incredible opportunity. When I think back on it, here’s what really stands out: 1️⃣ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲: This didn’t happen overnight. We've spent years building relationships, earning trust, and doing the work that speaks for itself. It's so rewarding to see it all come together. 2️⃣ 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲: Over the years, we’ve offered a range of services and served all kinds of clients but after more than a decade in business we have found what we’re best at - storytelling for changemakers - and have made it our focus. 3️⃣ 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: We realized that what drives our economic engine as a company is ongoing, valued partnerships with our clients. We invest in systems and processes to make sure they feel supported every step of the way and always look for opportunities to improve. The best part? This all started because someone who saw our work with another client loved what we did so much, they took us with them when the opportunity presented itself. Why is this so exciting? ✨ 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲: This project is statewide, and will help us reach a large audience. ✨ 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: The work we’ll be doing directly affects people’s lives at a critical time. ✨ 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: It’s exactly what we do best, and it feels incredible to be doing it for such an important cause. I'm beyond grateful and still pinching myself that this fantastic partner trusts me and my company and is so excited to work with our team on this. 🤩 This is just the beginning, and I’m so grateful for the community that’s made this possible! Here’s to more impact and more stories that need to be told. 🙌 #grateful #dreamclient #pinchmmemoment #impactfulchange

Thank you MetroNational for #BuildingBetterLives Join us again October 15, 2024 at 820 Gessner Rd. Houston Tx 77024 https://lnkd.in/giwUeb47 In a world of superficial networking and transactional relationships, there's a growing demand for authentic, purpose-driven connections that lead to personal growth, professional development, and community impact. Slinging business cards doesn’t work anymore (did it ever, really?) We need something better. CUP OF JOEY is different because we: 1. Focus on the 'Why' over job titles or company affiliations 2. Create a diverse, cross-industry community 3. Offer both physical and digital connection spaces 4. Provide scalable solutions for individuals and businesses

Kicked off this morning with some real-talk with Aalap Desai from tgthr. and it was one of those conversations that makes you think about the bigger picture. We talked about some industry challenges —how to build a strong foundation, figuring out the right clients, whether to niche down, and his take on building a team and culture. What really hit home was his advice on knowing when to say no. It’s easy to think every opportunity is worth taking, but understanding when something isn’t the right fit, even if it feels like you could make it work in the short term, is crucial for long-term growth. That balance is key to sustaining both your business and sanity. In a space that often feels competitive, it’s refreshing to connect with people who share openly. We’ve always believed there’s room for everyone in this space —it’s just about finding your path. Always a joy connecting with such people and learning from their journeys. 🙌
