It’s that time of year again, sepsis awareness advocates! Sepsis Awareness Month is quickly approaching, and you can make an impact by asking your governor to declare September as Sepsis Awareness Month at the state level.
Governors have the power to issue proclamations for observances, commemorations, and other occasions. These proclamations bring attention to issues of statewide importance. As part of our larger Sepsis Awareness Month efforts, we’re encouraging YOU to submit a request to your governor today.
Remember – even if your state has recognized this observance before, proclamations need to be renewed annually. Visit https://lnkd.in/ekF2aE69 to learn how to submit a request in your state today!
Sepsis is the body's extreme response to an infection and is a life-threatening medical emergency. It ranks as the third leading cause of death in the United States. It can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death, especially if not recognized and treated promptly. Symptoms include fever, increased heart rate, increased breathing rate, and confusion. Early recognition and treatment are crucial for survival. If you suspect sepsis, seek medical attention immediately.

We’re thrilled to share that Texas has officially proclaimed September as Sepsis Awareness Month!
Sepsis Survivor Julia is one of many advocates in the state who reached out to Governor Abbott to encourage him to make this important declaration.
“Though I still face the long-lasting effects of sepsis, I am grateful for every breath I take,” she shares. “I channel my experience into advocating for sepsis awareness, determined to prevent others from enduring what I went through. My hope is that by sharing my story, I can empower others to be proactive about their health and create a meaningful impact in the fight against this silent and deadly condition.”
Are you ready to raise your voice for sepsis awareness, just like Julia? Learn how to connect with the governor of your state to submit your request at https://lnkd.in/ekF2aE69.
In honor of National Wear Red Day for Heart Disease on Friday, Feb. 2, SRA organized a Hands-Only CPR course for our team, equipping them with essential skills for giving CPR.
Did you know when a person goes into cardiac arrest, their survival depends on immediate CPR from someone nearby? CPR can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival and with proper training, you could be the difference for someone in danger.
#FunFact: During CPR, you can maintain the correct compression rate of 100 to 120 per minute by syncing it with some of your favorite tunes. Check out a few selections from our playlist:
🎶 “Billie Jean” – Michael Jackson: 117 bpm
🎶 “Ice Ice Baby” – Vanilla Ice: 116 bpm
🎶 “All Star” – Smash Mouth: 104 bpm

Today is the World Sepsis Day 2024 (September 13, 2024)
Every year World Sepsis Day is marked worldwide to raise awareness about sepsis, a life-threatening condition which occurs when the body's immune system has an extreme response to infection. Each year, sepsis is responsible for an estimated 11 million deaths.
Today is World Sepsis Day. At RCEMLearning, we hope to support our Members in recognising the early signs of sepsis and educating EM staff in managing sepsis as promptly to prevent further harm or death.
