We recently released our first "Fear of Aging" report, which provides insight into aging trends across several generations, analyzing what Americans think about most when it comes to growing older and the steps they are actively taking to combat aging. As a science-driven wellness company at the forefront of the healthy aging conversation, we know that society’s views on aging continue to evolve as each generation thinks about their health and longevity earlier than the last. Our findings reveal the common ground that many Americans share regarding aging, aligning with Thorne’s mission of taking a proactive and personalized approach to living healthier, longer. Thorne recently released its first Fear of Aging report, which revealed cross-generational insights into how Americans are putting health and wellness at the forefront in an effort to live healthier longer. The report identifies generational differences and motivators behind Americans' perceptions of aging, exploring not only their preconceived notions, but also the steps they are taking to actively combat it. As a science-driven wellness company that supports healthy aging, we realize this topic is complex. Every individual's health and wellness journey is uniquely individualized, and when it comes to aging, we believe that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. As we continue to be at the forefront of the conversation on aging, one of the most important takeaways from the report is that consumers across multiple generations are taking a more proactive and personalized approach to their health – something we have always believed in. Fear of aging is widespread. - 57% of US consumers feel anxious or depressed about growing older. - 63% express concern over declining health and medical costs. - Nearly half are afraid of losing their independence. Justified in worrying, 85% of older adults have at least one chronic condition, almost 70% require long-term care, and one in five Americans is now an unpaid caregiver. Witnessing loved ones lose their health, younger generations fear the same fate.
