As a parent, there are moments that fill your heart with pride and a touch of nostalgia. Today, I experienced one of those moments when I saw my son Jake Childers pop up on my LinkedIn feed, celebrating their internship Blue Trust.
Watching them grow, learn, and now step into the professional world is incredibly rewarding. It feels like just yesterday they were taking their first steps, and now they’re making strides in their career.
This journey has been filled with countless lessons, both for them and for me. Here are a few reflections:
1. Embrace Change: Seeing your child transition from the classroom to the workplace is a reminder that change is constant and growth is inevitable. Embrace it with open arms.
2. Celebrate Small Wins: Every accomplishment, no matter how small, is a step forward. Celebrate these moments to build confidence and momentum.
3. Mentorship Matters: Encourage them to seek mentors and also be one yourself. Sharing experiences and insights can make a significant difference in their journey.
4. Stay Curious: The world is evolving rapidly. Encourage them to stay curious and keep learning, adapting to new challenges and opportunities.
5. Support and Trust: As they embark on their career path, your support and trust in their abilities mean the world to them. Be their biggest cheerleader.
To all the parents out there witnessing similar milestones, let’s cherish these moments and continue to guide our children as they make their mark in the world. And to Jake Childers, I couldn’t be prouder of you. Here’s to many more achievements and learning experiences ahead! 🌟

Critical to have the one on one partner mentor and associate liason. A firm with a real interest in the summer student will have 20 minutes with the partner every day and at least a one hour session every week. Every summer student interested in business law should be on two deal teams at all times. Show you care.
We are thrilled to welcome our 2024 class of summer associates to the firm this week! Across our U.S. offices, Davis Polk’s summer associates will contribute to real client work, be mentored by a partner and an associate liaison, and complete immersive training programs, among many other valuable professional experiences. They will also enjoy an active calendar full of fun cultural and social events. We look forward to a fantastic summer!

I'll be honest, I don't know if this is typical or not - my gut says no - but this is clearly a company that truly believes each of those people is part of the San Francisco 49ers team. They don't play on the field, but this shows these individuals that you believe their work helped the team accomplish its goals. And while I could be wrong, something tells me they do more things like this that we don't hear about.

This is a great example of inclusive organizational #leadership! While it’s not always possible to fly every FTE to every event, I applaud the 49ers for setting an example here — especially in the era of hyper-segmentation and favoritism amongst teams. Finding a way to acknowledge the contribution of all employees, whenever possible, goes a long way toward reducing silos, decreasing intra-office resentment, creating healthy workplace culture, and motivating folks to do their best work. #Superbowl#inclusion#culture#belonging
This summer, I had the opportunity to intern with Nader Yassa, owner of Complete Financial Wellness and Four Y Ranch, LLC. This experience allowed me to develop valuable skills and gain hands-on experience identifying issues and opportunities, recognizing critical paths, documenting executable project plans, and delivering the desired results.
At Complete Financial Wellness:
Personal Finance Education: Attended courses to deepen my understanding of personal finance management.
Project Management: Enhanced my knowledge of project management methodology and strategic planning.
Website Development: Created a project plan to develop the Complete Financial Wellness website.
At Four Y Ranch:
Grant Research: Conducted detailed research on grants available for small ranches and farms in Texas.
Regulatory Insight: Gained knowledge of the government regulations required for operating a farm store in Texas.
Permitting Process: Produced a detailed guide outlining the necessary licenses and permits for establishing a farm store.
I appreciated the opportunity to develop my skills in these dynamic settings. I’m eager to apply my knowledge to future projects and challenges!
Best of luck!
