Following on from the post earlier in the week! -
Our closest competitors fall into two categories, national and local hire companies. Whilst both have their positives, using Multi-Hire will have major benefits. Here’s an example why.
I attended a site close to our unit, the hire company had supplied a 110v floor grinder. The customer had completed half the job and it had taking two weeks.
Here are the reasons why it was the wrong machine.
· The job was about 2000m2
· The floor had oil contaminants and a hard wearing coating in areas.
· 415v power was available on site
· The user was a first-time user, with no experience.
I attended site and spec’d the Terrco 2000. The remaining half was completed in two days, left a better finish and guaranteed that the surface was adequately prepped ready for the new resin coating.
The machines were set up with a quick demonstration and we had pre-emptively sent the “How to use a Terrco 2000” video from our YouTube channel.
With Multi-Hire you don’t just get a machine you get experience. Had we been on site at the first point of the job it would have been completed in a weeks hire.

Meet The Team: Adam Docherty – Foot Mobile Engineer
Meet Adam – one of our multi-skilled Foot Mobile Engineers at Ergro. We gave him a quick interview this week to find out what life is like moving between our busy maintenance sites in London, as well as ask what he enjoys getting up to outside of work…
When did you start working at Ergro, and what made you chose this company to work for?
“I started at Ergro in June, and Neil and Lesley made me feel relaxed and at ease during the interview.”
What do you enjoy about your job?
“No two days are the same and I enjoy not being tied to one site.”
What do you think are the main differences in the foot-mobile way of working, compared to attending sites in a van?
“Pros. We don’t get stuck in traffic
Cons. We can’t carry as many tools”
How do you stay in regular contact with the office staff and the other engineers?
“I keep in contact with them via Phone, email and WhatsApp”
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
“I’ve always wanted to restore antique mirrors...it’s something I can see myself doing.”

🔧 **Highlighting the Heroes of Blue-Collar Trades** 🛠️
In today's rapidly evolving job market, it's more important than ever to shine a spotlight on blue-collar tradespeople. These unsung heroes are the backbone of our communities, yet their contributions often go unnoticed in mainstream media.
By showcasing the skill, dedication, and ingenuity of tradespeople on TV and streaming platforms, we can change perceptions and inspire the next generation to consider careers in these vital fields. Programs that make these jobs look cool can help close the gap left by the many skilled tradespeople retiring every day.
Let's celebrate the electricians, plumbers, carpenters, mechanics, and other tradespeople who keep our world running smoothly. Highlighting their stories not only honors their hard work but also educates the public about the importance and value of these careers.
Together, we can build a future where blue-collar trades are not just respected, but revered. 🌟

The Qualifications Reform Design Group have had the Skills Ministers tick of their questionable qualification types. Three types of qualification that I predict will see the death nail of national qualifications and units of competency (given the template design) in the long term to appease institutional delivery over competency. The units of competency templates show a lack of understanding of development over assessment of competency in a context. Probably written by someone who has not demonstrated assessment and design practice of units at a national level, but most likely developed skills and knowledge in an educational institution or the like. Blowing the Interview: How to get back up again!
We've all been there—a tough interview where things just didn't go right. Maybe you stumbled on your answers, let nerves get the best of you, arrived late, or perhaps you weren't as prepared for some of the questions as you thought. Whatever the case, remember as the Tubthumping song goes, "I get knocked down, but I get up again." A less-than-ideal interview isn't the end of your career path; it’s a valuable opportunity for growth.
Strategies for Getting Back Up:
1. Take a moment to assess the interview. Identify the specific aspects that didn't go well—was it a lack of familiarity with the company, underprepared answers to behavioral questions, or maybe poor rapport with the interviewer?
2. Use your analysis to develop targeted improvements, such as refining your answers to tough questions or improving your interaction skills.
3. Practice with friends, mentors, or career coaches to gain confidence and reduce anxiety. Simulate different interview scenarios to be better prepared for the unexpected.
4. Focus on the progress you are making rather than any single setback. Celebrate small victories such as:
- Successfully answering a question that previously tripped you up.
- Feeling more relaxed and present during a mock interview.
- Noticing a reduced response time to challenging questions due to better preparation.
- Establishing a good rapport with an interviewer, even if the overall outcome wasn't as hoped.
My biggest piece of advise is to treat every interview as a learning opportunity. By embracing each experience, you prepare yourself better for future challenges, enhancing your skills and boosting your confidence for the next opportunity.
