"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." This phrase, often attributed to the philosopher Aristotle, suggests that the total value or effectiveness of a group or system is greater than the sum of its individual components Leading alongside remarkable women such as S. Kathryn Allen, Esq., Theresa Harrison, Keisha L. Mack, PhD, Aimee Griffin, Esq., LLM, and Nic Cober, Esquire, is truly an honor. I consider it an honor to belong to a sisterhood that stands as a representation of the top 1% of Black Women-owned businesses. We've just concluded our third annual conference, The BOW Collective (The Black Owner and Women's Collective), held in Destin, Florida, where we experienced a #paradigmshift. As a strategy-first communications and visibility firm, my clients and industry colleagues know I have not advised to post a 5min video in today's evolving social media universe. They also know that I advise to break rules when it's worth it. 😉 Please indulge me for a moment. I recently shared my induction into #TheBOWCollective, and have received amazing support and a few questions. While it is difficult for this communications exec to articulate (right?!) what it means for Quest Media Group to be part of a sisterhood of the top 1% Black women owned businesses, this recap of our recent induction ceremony and 3rd annual conference does the job for me, and certainly answers the great questions that have been flowing my way. About BOW Collective: ⁃ Focus: capital, contracts and community ⁃ Priority: support Black women business owners to scale, create more jobs, and continue community impact ⁃ Inducted over 70 new members in February 2024 ⁃ Total collective of 200+ ⁃ 4 countries ⁃ 30 industries ⁃ 1.2 billion dollars in revenue The Bottom Line: We are poised to take action and support your large organization with varied, scalable solutions. "Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is an example of how to tell historically influenced stories inspired by the best parts of America’s past, instead of the worst, done by the people being represented themselves, and not by onlookers. It can showcase for new generations the ideals of what being American means today, in all of their diverse, hard-working, community-oriented and environmentally conscious glory." Very informative article about the history behind this change, and the joy and positivity the change hopes to bring. https://lnkd.in/g5dkRT3Z

Principles of a Successful Presidential Transition A presidential transition is a valuable—and vulnerable—time for an institution. It is a moment of opportunity that can be effectively utilized or squandered. How can you harness the energy of a transition to capitalize on the opportunity? There are four principles that will enable your college to move forward strategically. (https://lnkd.in/eDD56aWR) ● Celebrate together. In order to move forward well, you need to spend appropriate time marking the important moments of the last presidency. Allow a wide variety of ways to celebrate, including publications, public events, and social media. ● Communicate Often. Transparency is essential for a successful presidential transition. The search process should be thoroughly explained and readily available. Create a specific page on your college website that students, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders can refer to when they have questions about timelines, process, and progress. ● Engage Your Mission. An institution is bigger than any one leader. Anchor your community in the principals that have been through lines across the history of your college. Throughout the transition, intentionally connect to the mission and values that drive your organization. This will enable your community to be nourished by the past as they step into the future.

Education doesn't always have to look so formal - PowerPoints, sitting in chairs, business casual attire...you can see it in your head right now, can't you? It can look like leadership getting creative. You can break up the many tools of success into bite-sized bits that are easier to absorb and remember. You can wear jeans, T-shirts, and even throw in the occasional letterman's jacket to up the cool factor. We recently held a Real Estate Fair at our office for a chance to change the pace while still offering quality education. We were excited at the turnout and heard from so many attendees that the fair not only taught them about real estate but that it energized and motivated them to get out into the field. It didn't take incredibly more time to plan than a normal workshop and the casual atmosphere made it easier for people to engage in conversations, ask critical questions, and pick the brains of some of our most talented team. We call that a win. #CreativeLeadership #RealEstateEducation #RealEstateFair #MotivatedMindset #EngagingConversations #TalentedTeam #BiteSizedLearning #QualityEducation #OWNYourGrowth #OWNFamily #CommunityOverCompetition
