Just finished off a week of career growth at #TeamAmex focusing on Reflecting, Learning and Connecting. Proud to be a part of an organization that truly believes in the development of their talent, and walks the talk with a great series of engaging and insightful seminars. The highlight would be the inspirational voice of Michael “Pinball” Clemons talking through his own career journey, facing his challenges, and continuing on strong with his ever-present and infectious positivity! He left us all graduates of his own PHD (Positivity; Humble; Discipline). Face each day with his PHD, and you can only succeed: Positivity. Face every opportunity with positivity. In his words, even being “neutral” is being negative because you’re not challenging the status quo, yourself, or others around you. Humble. Be humble on yourself that you always do your best, no matter the outcome. Focus on being humble to allow others to help, come together, and to work as teams and colleagues to achieve greatness. We’ve had the pleasure to hear from Amico Tania who is the Business Unit Manager for ALCEA, Italy within our business area Critical Infrastructure. Having recently taken on her first leadership role, Tania shares her experience and the personal development she is going through as part of her growth into leadership. “My journey with ASSA ABLOY began 24 years ago at Yale. Over the years, I've navigated through various roles within the company. Thanks to internal mobility I have acquired skills in specification, sales, and business development – building strong relationships with customers, partners and colleagues within our organisation.” What I love most about my role: Having started my new role just a few months ago, I am still learning, and each day brings new discoveries and challenges. With every small success, my self-confidence grows. Building trust is a priority for me, as trust is earned through leading by example and never giving up. Assuming responsibility for other people’s professional development and happiness is reshaping me as I explore my new identity as a manager, which I believe will involve a constant evolution. In my experience, internal mobility improves employee growth, and in my case, it provided opportunities to advance my career, develop new skills, and embark on fresh experiences.   My Advice: The advice I would like to give is to let yourself be curious and that it’s never too late to aspire for a better position or test yourself in a new role. I can’t do this job; I wasn’t trained for it, and it’s not my field of study.😔 These were Ada's words when she started her first position as a product consultant at Davos, a marketing company, after a long wait for a role in her field of logistics management. Her new job required her to: - Represent a company that manufactures high-end gadgets in an electronics store 📱 - Persuade customers to purchase these products 💼 - Compete with other brands in the store 🛒 - Demonstrate product functionalities 🖥️ - Collect customer feedback 📝 The store's products were not only costly but also faced fierce competition, adding to the challenge. 💪 Ada, naturally shy and uncomfortable approaching strangers, found the idea of selling to customers particularly daunting. 😓 Her colleagues, with their extensive product knowledge and self-assured demeanor, seemed intimidating. 😲 Her initial product knowledge assessment yielded a disappointing score. However, Ada was not one to back down. Recognizing that success required transforming her weaknesses into strengths, she dedicated herself to mastering every detail about the products. She attended every training session, listened intently, and asked numerous questions. 📚 Gradually, Ada's perseverance began to pay off. Her confidence grew, and she became adept at engaging with customers, providing valuable advice, and making personalized recommendations. 🌟 Her deep product knowledge earned her a reputation as one of the store’s top consultants. 🏆 Her journey highlighted the power of dedication and resilience. A year ago today, I thought I had officially hit the peak of my career. It was announced that we (Digitas North America) had won our pitch to LVMH, which simultaneously felt like a dream come true after all the hard work, late nights, and invigorating creative moments (and it is genuinely my dream company to work for) while also feeling very much like the bittersweet conclusion, as I knew I would not be continuing to officially onboard this incredible new client. However, two days later I realized that I had received the greatest promotion of my career. Under my new title, mom, I found that my career wasn’t over. My skills of organization, time management, creative problem solving under pressure, and training/teaching were just given a new challenge and opportunity for me to level up. Returning to work after my maternity leave, I have found myself bursting at the seams with growth and feeling so ready to continue to level up. I got lucky (or maybe I made my own luck) in that I was able to work for that dream client, building their audiences, for a small stint while transitioning back, before rolling on full time to another pretty incredible team serving another extraordinary client, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company . I used to think that life and work were in competition. That was why you need to "balance" in the work/life arena. But in reality, work is part of life and growth in life is a part of growth in the workplace. These are not competing parts of ourselves, but rather an integrated apparatus from which we form our whole selves. Do not fear growth in any area of your life.
