What is a discovery call and why is it so useful? I always ask a potential client to book a discovery call for many reasons. ✨For you to get to me and see if I am the right photographer for your business. No photographer is the same as another, we all have different things to offer our clients, so choosing the right one is very important. ✨For me to get to know you and see if yours is a business I can help. ✨To help you think about some aspects of your brand before the photoshoot, such as the feel you are looking for in your marketing, the colours, the office space and the values of their business. ✨Also to find out your goals for the company and to find out the customers pain points that you want to solve. There are many aspects to a brand photoshoot to consider. It’s not just the idea of standing in front of the camera and me clicking a button. There’s so much more that goes into it that can benefit you and it all starts with the discovery call. If you just want a couple of headshots then thats fine. How to know when you’ve found your clients as a photographer. Experience and Expertise: Look for a photographer with experience in the type of photography you need, whether it’s portraits, events, or branding. Their expertise can make a big difference in the final results. 3. Client Reviews and Testimonials: Check reviews and testimonials from previous clients. Positive feedback and satisfied clients can give you confidence in your choice. 4. Personality and Comfort: It’s important to feel comfortable with your photographer. A good rapport and easy communication can make the shoot more enjoyable and yield better results. 5. Professionalism and Reliability: Ensure they are professional and reliable. This includes punctuality, preparedness, and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time. ✨ KNOW, LIKE, TRUST ✨ We’ve probably all read the research that says people prefer to do business with people they know, like, and trust. I’ve been thinking a bit about this recently & how important these three concepts are to what I do. ✨ To KNOW you, your photographer must ‘get’ you This kind of knowing is not surface knowledge where your photographer knows your name & what you do. The kind of knowing you want - the kind that results in photos that show the real you - is deeper. This kind of knowing follows when you share more about your life, your business & what drives you with your photographer. But to do that you need to…. ✨ …LIKE your photographer. To like your photographer, you need to connect with them. By getting to know them you find out who they are, what they are passionate about & what is important to them. The more you get to know them, the deeper that connection & the better that relationship. ✨ … which brings us to TRUST because you can’t trust someone if you don’t know & like them. Trust is the key ingredient to any relationship & this is true for the relationship you have with your photographer. We all have our fears & insecurities & in front of the camera, these self-doubts are often magnified. There is no hiding. It’s hard being outside of our comfort zones & being vulnerable in front of other people. You need to trust your photographer not only with those vulnerabilities but also trust that they will capture you in the best light. Know, like trust. My top-level brand values drive me towards this. * Always act with integrity. * Be passionate, engaging & excited about what I do. * Build positive, friendly, relationships. As a photographer, it’s my job to make you feel comfortable because when I photograph you, you are opening up to both me & my camera.
