🔍 In our Engineering department, our highly skilled team of engineers go through a series of tasks to ensure that the team on the factory floor know exactly what they are doing when a board makes its way to production. When the electronic data first comes through to engineering, our team will do a quotation and then get the files. It is then decided whether or not we are capable of manufacturing the PCB. We perform CAM checks which determines whether or not we are able to manufacture the tooling that we need to manufacture the board. The tooling that we generate will be - photo tools, laser direct imaging data, AOI, ink jet printing data and bare board test data. All drill files and profiling information is generated in Engineering. We use 2 types of software when engineering the job, Genesis and PCB professional. All pick and Place data, AOI data for the assembly side of the business as well as any bill of material discrepancies will be checked by our Engineering team before being sent down to production.  This leads us to have more certainty and precision when manufacturing your boards. #GarnerOsborneCircuits #PCB #PCBA #Engineering #MadeInBritain

WORKSHOP “OPTICAL 3D MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE IN PRODUCTION”   Accuracy and compliance with geometric dimensions are crucial for quality assurance in production. Achieving precise and reliable measurement results has been very time-consuming up to now. One reason for this is the time-consuming use of previous mechanical gauges or coordinate measuring machines. On the other hand, these applications are only used on a random basis. The Fraunhofer IOF has developed a non-contact optical measuring technique that speeds up these measurements enormously. However, the new 3D measurement technology differs from conventional mechanical measurement methods due to its completely different functional principle.   The seminar with practical training gives potential users the opportunity to familiarize themselves intensively with the topic before investing in the new measurement technology. The basic knowledge acquired is tested directly by the participants in practical exercises using various optical measurement methods. This will give them a realistic idea of the potential savings, that can be made in the cost of their own measurements.   ✅ Date: June 12 and 13, 2024 in Jena, Fraunhofer IOF   The workshop is organized by Fraunhofer Vision. Recently I was participated in 3D scanning for Reverse engineering for New Product Design and Development. I was so excited and this was completely new for me, I have no idea and how it would be. Actually - 3D scanning quickly capture all of the physical measurements of any physical object - Saves time in design work - Ensure parts will fit together on the first try - Capture engineering optimizations inherent in manufactured parts Utilize modern manufacturing on parts that were originally manufactured before CAD - Compare “as-designed” model to “as-built” condition of manufactured parts Especially if you are a Product Design engineer - you will love the entire process from concept to New product Design (NPD) and Development. #npd #3dscanning #reverseengineering

With the development of high-integration ICs and high-density interconnection assembly technology, HDI boards are pushing PCB manufacturing to new heights. These advanced boards feature complex designs and dense wiring, presenting significant challenges for CAM production. Through continuous practice and refinement, I have developed some valuable insights into overcoming these difficulties, which I would like to share with my CAM colleagues. Key Focus Areas: 1. Correct HDI PCB Stackup Planning: Ensure the accuracy of HDI PCB stackup files by planning the most suitable production processes ahead and optimizing Gerber files according to the number of laminations. 2. Defining SMDs: Accurate SMD definition is crucial to avoid issues such as overlapping or incorrect pad sizes. 3. Laser Drilling: Precision techniques are essential due to the specific requirements of blind holes in HDI boards. 4. Plug Holes and Solder Mask: Managing vias and ensuring proper plug hole techniques are vital for high-quality outputs. 5. Efficient Panelization: Proper and efficient panelization helps save costs and reduce process complexity. By focusing on these areas and leveraging advanced CAM strategies, we can achieve greater efficiency and precision in HDI board production, delivering superior-quality PCBs that meet customer demands.
