I built and sold a $2m ARR agency in 2 years. Now I help 6 and 7-figure agency owners get dream clients reaching out to you, ready to work.
The 7 things that matter for scaling an agency: 1. Pricing 2. Unique offer 3. Inbound leads 4. Results and proof 5. High-quality hiring 6. Culture of responsibility 7. Letting go, leading, not micromanaging The 7 things that will stop you from scaling: 1. No culture 2. Cutting costs on hiring 3. Always insisting on “your way” 4. Trying to automate everything 5. Trying to document everything 6. Thinking you are the only brain in the company 7. Worrying about outbound quantity instead of inbound quality What did I miss?
You've got a solid list there, another thing that could be crucial is maintaining a healthy work-life balance for your team members. This ensures they stay motivated and productive in the long run.
I'd add 'Client Education' to the mix - sometimes scaling isn't just about what we do but also about educating clients on why our unique approach matters. It's like showing them behind the curtain - it builds trust and sets realistic expectations.
Embracing failure as a learning opportunity is crucial for growth. Fail fast, learn faster, and watch your agency soar.
Tim Keen I'll add having a motivated team. That's so hard to find these days though.
This is very helpful. Do you think optimizing client experience will help scale an agency as well?
Great lists, Tim Keen 😀 I would add to the first list: x. A shared vision y. Fun
Quality is over price. Tim Keen But it depends on what we really need. 🙌
Great one👏 Tim Keen What do you mean by documenting everything will stop us from scaling? Would like to know this in brief:)
Pretty thorough list right there
I scale businesses with direct-response ads | Videos and static creatives that drive performance | Scaling to $1M/Monthly in ad spend | Spent 25 000 000$+ on ads.
7moLove this, especially - Always insisting on “your way” As Hormozi said - if you hire a specialist, and then tell them how to do the job, and they fail - they shouldn't be fired, you should be fired. From what I see being in the space - the culture and people are the biggest leverage.
