We are honored to announce that last week's South Seas Tarpon Tournament raised $200,000 to benefit Folds of Honor, equating to 40 educational scholarships for families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders in Lee County, Florida. We extend heartfelt thanks to all who contributed, from organizations that donated auction prizes, to the local businesses that contributed significantly to our fundraising efforts, to individual donors. Join us Memorial Day weekend 2025 as South Seas once again welcomes anglers and families for another unforgettable Tarpon Tournament. Inquire about 2025 South Seas Tarpon Tournament sponsorship at info@southseas.com. Learn more about the tournament at https://lnkd.in/d8KQYeeJ.

In a class offered by the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy students gain real-world experience by giving away $10,000 in grant funding. In the hands-on course “Learning by Giving”, students learn and implement the process of making charitable grants and giving wisely, from deciding which community issues to address and writing requests for grant proposals to conducting site visits at nonprofits, evaluating applications, and deciding where to award real money. The 2023 summary of Voluntary Support of Education by CASE reveals a 2.5% decrease in charitable donations to higher education compared to 2022. Charitable contributions to U.S. colleges experienced a 12.5% growth in 2022, marking the most significant increase since 2000. Despite the overall decline in 2023, 45.7% of surveyed institutions noted an increase in giving, indicating that the 2.5% decrease is not even across the industry but rather a more drastic drop for many institutions. Peer counselors give hope to teens—and you can too! For many nonprofits, 26% of their revenue comes from donations made in December; and, unfortunately, holiday giving has been on the decline over the last couple of years. If you find yourself with a little extra you’re able to give this season, consider investing it into your community! Less than three days left to act this year! Help us bring hope into 2024 by donating to Teen Lifeline at https://lnkd.in/gbpJjYQ4

Crisis, such as the tragic fires in and around Ruidoso, reveal the character of people and businesses. Such as the extreme leadership of MATI’s Godfrey Enjady working tirelessly with friends, such as PVT’s James Meyers, to restore vital communications within and outside of their own service areas. Or the local businesses working together to meet the needs of those impacted. Local businesses matter and will be there when needed. I so appreciate the efforts of PVT’s employees organizing this effort to bring supplies to those in need. Chris & Tabitha Davis , Cassie Florez , Daniel Rodriguez, SHRM-CP and Ross Horner.
PVT would like to thank people in our communities for dropping off donations, and special thanks to Oasis Christian Fellowship in Carlsbad. Last night, PVT employees delivered the first truckload to the Mescalero Community Center. Two more truckloads to follow.
