“Success doesn't come with your hands in your pockets.” - Yusuf Dikeç, 2024 I’ve been thoroughly amused and entertained by the outpour of memes and conspiracy theories that surfaced on the internet following Yusuf Dikeç’s performance in the 10m air pistol shooting event at the #Paris2024 Olympics. While other competitors showed up with specialized Olympic shooting glasses (which lets them aim out of one eye while keeping both open) and noise-canceling headphones to improve focus, Yusuf “strolled” in wearing regular prescription glasses and over-the-counter earplugs to take home the silver medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event. Did I forget to mention that Yusuf generally shot with his non-shooting hand in his pocket? While his relaxed and casual competition style suggests nonchalance, his results are a testament to the years of training and mastery he has invested in his craft. Here’s what most people do not know about Yusuf Dikeç: 1️⃣ #Paris2024 was Yusuf’s fifth Olympic appearance 2️⃣ He has been sport-shooting since 2001 3️⃣ He’s a retired officer of Turkey’s gendarmerie force 📌 My point? True mastery comes before flair. As professionals, the tools and software we use are essential, but they should never overshadow the mastery of our core skills. Like Dikeç, our first priority should be developing a deep understanding of our craft and building relevant skills. After creating this strong foundation, we can then leverage innovative tools to improve our work efficiency and productivity—a boost, not a starter pack. Now, here’s my unpopular opinion: I don’t think Yusuf chose to ignore the specially designed gadgets that have helped many other Olympic competitors achieve considerable success. I just think he couldn’t hack them because he wasn’t used to them. After all, you’d hardly expect a military officer to walk around with specialized goggles in case he needs to fire his weapon. What do you think? #Olympics #Mastery #Paris2024 #Productivity #ProfessionalDevelopment

#sharing Consistency is a superpower. (Here’s a short story to prove it) Yusuf Dikeç competed in multiple Olympic Games. It wasn't until recently that he won a silver medal. It took him 16 years to achieve this. His secret? Consistency. All these years he competed without anything fancy: ❌ No specialized lenses. ❌ No ear protection. ❌ No eye cover. He always wore a simple dress and hand in pocket. Nothing complex. Just consistent effort. #TAKEAWAY ✅ Consistency beats complexity every time. ✅ Persistence is key to long-term success. ✅ Attitude >>> Pure skill. "Consistency might not be glamorous, but it works!" So don't overthink. → Start today. → Show up every day. → You will figure things out. #paris2024 #olympic #starttoday Do you agree? How has #consistency helped you?

The #ParisOlympics 100-meter sprint was a thrilling event! In the men's category, #NoahLyles from the USA won the gold medal in a photo finish with a time of 9.784 seconds, narrowly beating Jamaica's #Kishane Thompson who timed 9.789 seconds. #Fred Kerley from the USA secured the bronze medal. Noha Lyles edged out Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson on Sunday by #five-thousandths of a second. Just imagine .A margin of #0.005 seconds is incredibly small, and it would be nearly impossible for the naked eye to detect. To put it into perspective: #The average human blink lasts around 0.3-0.4 seconds, A typical TV broadcast has a frame rate of 30-60 frames per second (FPS), which means each frame is displayed for around 0.016-0.033 seconds. Now To accurately capture a difference of 0.005 seconds, the frame rate would need a high-speed camera capable of recording at an extremely high frame rate of #1,000 FPS and above, Even then, the difference might be only 5-10 frames apart. Certainly without advanced #technology and high-speed cameras, this tiny margin would be impossible to detect, and we wouldn't be able to appreciate the incredible athleticism and competitive spirit of these Olympic athletes! #ParisOlympics2024

This wasn't his first Olympics. Fifth. He is a seasoned Olympian who has participated in every Summer Olympics since 2008, making the 2024 Paris Olympics his fifth appearance. Now, the story. Meet Yusuf Dikec, the 51-year-old Turkish shooter who captured silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the mixed team 10-meter air pistol event. But it's not just his medal making waves—it's how he won it. While his competitors were decked out in specialized glasses, advanced visors, and high-tech ear protection, Dikec stood out with his simple approach. With only his regular prescription glasses and basic earplugs, he aimed, one hand casually in his pocket, and delivered a performance that left the world in awe. His minimalist approach wasn't a handicap – it was his secret weapon. "I did not need the special gear. I am a natural shooter," Dikec explained. Dikec's journey reminds us of some lessons: - Trust your instincts and natural abilities - Don't let a lack of "perfect" tools hold you back - Experience and focus can outweigh fancy equipment - Sometimes, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication His story is a powerful reminder for your professional journey. When you find yourself up against well-equipped competitors, remember his approach. Trust your skills, stay focused on your goal, and let your results speak for themselves. You have the power to succeed, just like Dikec did. What's your "silver medal moment" when you succeeded against the odds? 🥇 Is This the Perfect Post-Race Olympic Recap for Paris 2024? 🇫🇷 With the thrill of the Paris 2024 Olympics winding down, I had a moment of reflection. Cross-over #paris2024 Olympics are now over and by all accounts a huge success (can’t but feel in heart “Tokyo, 本当にかわいそう😢) , but that is not what this post is about. Much of the billions upon billions spent is to “unite the world in peaceful competition, " which seems to be a resounding success. Many famous shots but the one that seems to have gained the most traction is the one of the “silver shooter” Yusuf Dikec with his casual approach to medalling. It did not take long for this view to get stylized in hashtag #anime, of course, it didn’t! Combining his image with the shot of the previous day of Korea’s Kim Ye-Ji hyper cool pose is fantastic. Turkey, Korea, and Japan also find themselves together in a different hashtag #softpower business, TV dramas. According to Parrot Analytics, Turkish dramas are exported to 170 countries worldwide, watched by 750M and have a demand increase of 184%, from 2020 to 2023, more than Korean (73%) and Japan. In the Olympic spirit, however, is that Japan and Turkey are remaking each other's content, and both get to enjoy the fruit of this cooperation. Some of these remakes made 10x overseas than in Japan. The entertainment business becomes more global every day and for those open to new ideas, new methods, and calculated risk taking the rewards are great. Nikkei Asia #jdrama #turkey #remake #olympics

There have been many memes comparing these two athletes recently (Even I posted one yesterday with a different context). However, I want to clarify something. It's not right to compare them or to celebrate someone just because someone used less or no gear. IMO, The Turkish shooter might have won gold if he had trained with the proper gears. Sports gadgets and equipments, developed through years of research and testing, have repeatedly proven their ability to enhance performance. For instance, in this year’s ITT (Individual Time Trial) cycling event, Wout van Aert secured a bronze medal by less than 2 seconds, just because he rode with an advanced double disc-setup wheels (he acknowledged this advantage in post race interview). When athletes are evenly matched, advanced equipment can provide a critical advantage. By the way, the person in the first image won gold and broke the world record in 25m pistol women’s event 😀 #Olympia2024 #shooters #WORLDRECORD #Paris2024

2moI think he’s committed to looking cool 😂 But for real, he’s a master at his craft. I think that’s his focus. All the other tech are just extras and like they say, the old dog that he is doesn’t want to learn new tricks.
