I would love it if, among other technical papers, associate professor Dr Richard Stanaway of the Unitech School of Surveying would do a presentation on how PNG surveyors would access the Australian job market. This may involve revisiting the surveying syllabus of Unitech's surveying school to match it with Aussie universities (esp those that offer Surveying) and eventually reach an agreement with an Aussie State's Surveying Board where our PNG Surveyors would be accepted to work/practice in Australia. The job market for surveyors in Australia looks promising. Thus, apart from being an academic professional, the Government of PNG through UNITECH and ASPNG can "contract" the good Dr to venture into this unmined opportunity using his indepth knowledge of the Australian surveying industry and wealth of academic experience. It is high time we think, act and venture out-of-the-box. We (PNG surveyors) can cause a wave of change in our home and local economy after we achieve this target. Immigration and Visa issues are nothing when your Surveying qualification is accepted by an Aussie State's Surveying Board. See you all in Lae, for the Congress.
