If you hold all the titles Serena Williams holds, I don't think this is the moment to shy away from that. Lean in. Lean in hard. - The packaging colors are a wonderful nod to the sport she dominated. - A proprietary blend of ingredients for products around SPF, shine management, and hydration to support the billing “makeup you can move in.” - Catering to darker tones, by even flipping the way typical beauty brands communicate and display complexion shades: "The complexion shades, a hefty 36 for Featuring You Hydrating Skin Enhancing Tint SPF 30 and a sizeable 20 for Nothing To See Soft Matte Creamy Concealer, are spread across five color “families” ranging from deep to light. Typically, makeup brands showcase complexion shades online and at retail using the opposite spectrum, working their way from light to deep."

Last week we launched I Am Me - Jones Road Beauty's first ever brand campaign. The campaign centers around the concept of knowing who you are and owning it. It promotes consciously focusing on what you like about yourself, embracing what makes you unique, freeing yourself from impossible standards, and encourages a kinder shift in the narrative for how we speak to ourselves. There's so much noise out there. So many people with so many opinions on who we should be, how we should be, and when we should be it. I Am Me is a declaration and an active decision on prioritizing what is right for you. It's a message I think the world really needs and one that is a large part of Jones Road. This campaign has been my baby for over a year. We initially teased it back when we held our first Women of Influence conference and made it the subject of the first conversation. Bobbi led the discussion with her own internal conflict of being in the public eye and constantly being scrutinized, wanting to escape it and free herself of the negativity, yet also finding validation and beauty in her work. This opened a much larger discussion in which 31 powerful women spoke of their personal hardship in living an empowered life. We then teased "I Am Me" on a larger scale during Jones Road's third anniversary when we launched a collaboration with Lingua Franca, designing one of our pieces to say and promote "I Am Me." Our audience loved the message which tremendously validated the mission. I am so proud of the campaign and all the work that has gone into it. It's extremely clear that every member of the Jones Road team feels strongly about this mission. This passion is what fuels the campaign - from the rollout of our Adgile Media Group campaign trucks to the inspiring women who were interviewed, we clearly love what we do. I'm attaching the campaign launch video here but there is far more to come. 🗣 We need more sponsored makeup stations at media day for women’s AND men’s sports teams. Angel City Football Club had a NYX Professional Makeup station at their media day this year and posted some behind-the-scenes content from that activation. There’s a ton of opportunity with something like this, especially given its strong alignment with media day. Players must look their best, as the day is used to capture photos and videos that will be featured in marketing materials and content throughout the year. Here are a few thought starters: → Get Ready With Me: Media Day Edition: Have players tell stories as they’re having their makeup done before media day photos. → Have the makeup partner sponsor any high-res photos posted from media day (on that day). → Pair players together who are having their makeup done at the same time for conversation-style content (e.g. The Shop). While I do believe a makeup partner works for men’s sports, there’s also an opportunity to use this model for grooming brands (e.g. shaving, haircuts, etc). In fact, last season The New York Yankees activated an outstanding partnership announcement with Gillette that included a conversation (while being shaved) between Nestor Cortes, Anthony Rizzo, and the Savannah Bananas’ Jackson Olson. #sportsbusiness #sportsmarketing #sponsorship.

Fenty Beauty Goes Olympic: A Look at What They Did and What They Could Have Done. Fenty Beauty is now a partner for the 2024 Paris Olympics! As a premium partner, they will provide makeup kits and tutorials for 600 volunteers presenting medals at the Games. While this is a significant step, Fenty Beauty missed an opportunity to create an even bigger impact. With the Olympics being such a high-profile event, I expected to see more from Fenty Beauty, such as limited edition product launches and exclusive athlete partnerships. Such moves could have expanded their presence during the Games, positioning them as a leader in beauty innovation and athlete collaboration. On the other hand, brands like Sephora, P&G, and Glossier are stepping up. Under LVMH’s partnership, Sephora is sponsoring the Olympic torch relay and setting up pop-up stores, providing beauty treatments for medalists. P&G is opening a Beauty & Grooming Salon in the Olympic Village, offering inclusive care with their wide range of products. Glossier is setting new standards as the first beauty partner of the WNBA, aligning its brand with top athletes who will be seen on the Olympic stage. The intersection of beauty and sports is gaining more significance, and the Olympics provide a unique platform to showcase this fusion. Here’s hoping more Beauty brands will join those making bold, memorable statements in the future. If you've traveled outside of the U.S. or just watched anything that didn't originate here—or, really, if you've been anywhere outside of the Bronx—you've seen the classic intertwined N and Y on baseball caps of all colors and styles. Turns out, we have Spike Lee to thank for it. I'll leave it at that so you watch the video but a few takeaways, since this is LinkedIn: Honor the icon, expand the canvas - The interlocking NY icon is 115 years old, and Lee knew not to mess with it. It was the background that he thought could be updated to appeal to more people. Gut over research - Data and market research are very important, but many of the greatest creative decisions are driven by an emotional connection. Good on Lee for making the call to George Steinbrenner and good on Steinbrenner for a very fast "yes." Loosen the brand reins - The stories in this video are fantastic, from the woman who identifies to the Yankees cap because of George Constanza to the strong hip-hop connection to the people who have no idea and just like the look. TIP OF THE DAY✌🏾 This is my hairstylist, NoNo. She’s been braiding my hair for the past 6 months and we’ve formed an amazing relationship. When we first met, I showed her a picture of a hairstyle and she braided it just like the picture. But the last couple of times, we have been exploring different hairstyles based on what best suits my face and my personality, what colors suit my complexion and what can hold up to my vigorous workouts.
