🌍 Yesterday, on June 13th, we had a visit from the Migration Department of Helsinki's Economic Development Department to learn more about immigrants arrival, settlement, and integration into Estonian society. 🤝 The goal was to meet with key stakeholders in Tallinn and gain a better understanding of the settlement and integration processes of various immigrant groups. The following topics were discussed: • Migration and integration in Tallinn's strategy • Strategic objectives related to migration and integration • How are activities related to migration and integration strategically planned? • How is research and external expertise used in planning and review? • Collaboration on migration and integration with the national government • How is internal and external collaboration organized? • Activities for attracting talents to Tallinn • Approaches to attracting talents considering proximity to Russia 📅 The visit by the Migration Department was a reciprocal visit following the Estonian delegation's visit to Helsinki in April. #collaboration

#Lithuania 🇱🇹 has firmly established itself as one of the global frontrunners in e-government development, according to the latest 2024 United Nations E- Government Development Survey. Our country has climbed 🪜 three places, securing 21st position among 193 UN member states, placing it in the elite group of nations with very high e-government capabilities. Minister of the Economy and Innovation, Ausrine Armonaite, emphasised the importance of e-government for the country’s citizens: 💬 “The e-government ranking reflects the quality of Lithuania’s public services. How did CHILE become the RICHEST country in Latin America? According to the Quality of Life Index published in 2005 by The Economist magazine, Chile was the Latin American country with the best quality of life. It also has the best safety indicators and the highest life expectancy at birth in the region. But Chile did not always have the best indicators, in fact, in 1982 45% of the population still lived in poverty and its GDP per capita growth from 1900 to 1985 averaged only 0.9%. It was from 1986 to 1997 that it grew at a much higher rate of 5.5%. This is the period that is sometimes referred to as Chile's golden age or the Chilean economic "miracle". 🚀 Strengthening community ties through MILEstone Project! 🌍 The Municipality of Postojna participates in the MILEstone project, aiming to enhance policies for better job opportunities and business creation for non-EU citizens. Recently, the Municipality organized a stakeholder meeting to exchange ideas and find solutions for better migrant integration and improved quality of life. 🔍 Key Discussion Points: 👉 Shared best practices from abroad. 👉Focus on local challenges and successes. 👉Identified the need for more Slovenian language courses to aid migrant integration. 👉Identified the need for a single point of contact for migrants to receive initial guidance for living and working in Postojna, available in multiple languages. This could be a virtual office or advisor connecting all local public institutions to help migrants integrate into the community. 🤝 What comes next? 👉Learning and adapting best practices from other European countries. 👉Peer reviews to enhance local policies and strategies. Why I Chose Cambodia Over Canada: A Tale of Progress and Potential 🌏➡️🇰🇭 The decision to move from Canada to Cambodia raises eyebrows. "Why leave such a developed country?" many ask. Yes, Canada excels in many ways, but for me, it's all about the trajectory of growth. 📈🍁 Cambodia is on an upward swing. Infrastructure, healthcare, and education systems are steadily improving here, showing promising signs of progress and development. 🏗️🩺📚 In contrast, these very aspects seem to be facing challenges back in Canada, with noticeable declines in areas that once made it a beacon of advancement. It's disheartening to witness. 😕📉 I'm drawn to places bubbling with potential, where the energy of growth and improvement is palpable.
