🛬 Back at home but still thinking about my Japan experience: I love a word in Japanese that encapsulates what I believe service should be everywhere: OMOTENASHI. 🎎 It describes Japanese hospitality, careful attention to detail, and selfless service to others; they take it very seriously! From buying a coffee at a coffee shop to packaging your purchase at a retail store, the experience they provide with this attention to detail is mind-blowing. One feels honored and very well taken care of; it wows you! So, I have been thinking about improving our processes and platform by questioning whether they delight our clients and allow them to fulfill their needs quickly and easily. 🧐 Are there companies or platforms that have delighted you as a customer? #Japan #Business #JapaneseCulture #OrganizationalCulture

It is important to declare to the world that we haven't been practicing the simple advice of "resting properly when you catch a cold." - Retail Analyst, Hiroyuki Watanabe. 72% of Japanese people want to take time off for work, chores, or school when they catch a cold, but 1 in 3 can't. One positive change the pandemic has brought to Japanese society is people feel more comfortable asking for a day off when they are sick. Ads that reflect the times are powerful. We love how this copy perfectly grasps the gradual yet positive change in the working culture in Japan! #COVUE #Japan #MarketinginJapan #BreakingNorms #ContentMarketing

Working Globally, Living in Japan 🇯🇵 Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle, Luxury Brands & Creatives | Executive Producer @ OBRUZA | MA+ Group Representation for Japan | Cross-Culture & Multi-Nation Cooperation | ニコラと申します🐯
The defining factor that has made Obruza Creative Production successful for 10 years is our dedication to fostering an international mindset while appreciating Japan's cultural specificities. Striking that balance is often challenging, but I can share Obruza's experience in getting there. 🇯🇵 We comply with and adhere to Japanese culture in client relations. ↳ Many see the language barrier as the main issue. This assumption is sensible because an overwhelming share of the Japanese workforce only speaks one language. I realized the language barrier is only the first phase of building a successful business in Japan. 🌏 The next more significant and quality-defining one is adapting to a high-context culture that is intuitive only to people with local understanding. ↳ Our relationships with our clients may be Japanese, but the value we provide must be international. Being on the path to and from Japan, Obruza nurtures a cosmopolitan mindset to remain valuable to our clients and partners. As a result, our work culture attracts our diverse, bilingual team, which consists of people who want to live in Japan and work in an international environment. We provide a rare opportunity for them to do so while valuing their diverse, complementary, and invaluable perspectives in delivering the outstanding quality of work we are known for in Japan and internationally. — I was fortunate to partner with Yuko Watanabe and build Obruza together. Yuko is a rare bilingual industry expert who belongs to the few percent of the working population who, besides speaking English, can handle the nuances of international business in a foreign language. Yuko and I believe that Obruza's key characteristic is our "consulate of the world" culture, a vision of a home away from home to us and to people we call friends, work partners, and dear associates.

Why do some companies stand the test of time? Japan is home to some of the world's most enduring companies, many of which have lasted for hundreds, or even a thousand years. Kongō Gumi, the world's oldest company, was said to have been founded in 578 A.D. in Osaka. We observed that organizations that stand the test of time have a characteristic in common - Fueki Ryuko (不易流行). This is a concept created by Haiku poet Matsuo Basho, which can be translated into "seeking balance between unchanging and ever-changing values." When companies have an unwavering philosophy or purpose, they can use it to guide them forward when they face hard times, or evolve with conviction as the market changes. Because their core remains constant, they are trusted and beloved by both customers and society, allowing them to flourish for a long, long time. #branding #longevity #purpose
