It’s been just over a week since THLA celebrated its 30th Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony. What an incredible night it was, filled with so much reflection, gratitude, and celebration. Delighted to have chaired the 25th Anniversary special session of RAID - no - not the insect repellent spray - but Rights and Accountability in Development (RAID) - the highly effective boutique NGO watchdog that's been putting the world of corporate accountability to rights for quarter of a century! Biggest takeaways - more scrutiny needed of the growing and elaborate ESG ecosystem being built up by corporates - whilst a veil of silence grows on rising attacks on human rights defenders trying to do the daily work of - yes you guessed it - scrutinizing business. Surely a paradox worth unravelling.

The one thing I always see clearly whenever I go back ‘in’ is the sheer volume of requests that BD professionals are faced with on a daily basis. Had the pleasure of attending Ohio Society of Association Professionals Annual Conference in Cinncinati and really enjoyed the networking, sessions and conversations. Thank you Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) for making this possible. My key takeaways include: - find ways to make your team feel valued at work and incorporate play as a primary research tool - Geoff McLachlan - understanding the challenges of hybrid and remote work models allows the whole team to discover ways to problem solve, and cultivate a healthy work environment by encouraging ways to build psychological safety and resilience. - don’t be afraid to question the status quo - a willingness to tell your story doesn’t have to be selfish or narcissistic and you can have a great and powerful impact by relating to others through story telling - meeting new people is fun, don’t forget that! #professionaldevelopment #remote #work #attendee #osap
