🚨 How well do you know the coming regulations? As the landscape of packaging and waste management evolves, today we're diving into the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation). 🌍 Just a few days ago, the European Parliament passed the PPWR corrigendum, an important step for reusable packaging, with only one last step before it becomes law! Your business most probably uses transport packaging; therefore, these new rules will change how you handle waste, recycling, and reuse. ♻️ Why should this matter? The PPWR is part of the EU Green Deal, aiming to cut packaging waste and promote sustainability. 💡 Key takeaways: - Mandatory reuse targets - New waste management and recycling rules - Focus on sustainable business practices Want to know more about the upcoming regulations? The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is coming! The final version of the PPWR was approved by the European Parliament. Once the regulation is published in the Official Journal of the EU, it enters into force 20 days later and applies 18 months thereafter. Now is the time to prepare, as the regulation applies to the entire life cycle of packaging and all packaging waste regardless of the material used and its origins. The main objective is to foster a circular economy and sustainable packaging by focusing on three main goals: Reduce, Reuse & Recycle, i.e.: 👉 Reduce empty space and packaging waste 👉 Reuse & refill packaging within re-use systems 👉 Raise recycling rates and the use of recycled materials For more information, stay tuned! #ppwr #sustainablepackaging

#PPWR is just one more reason to adopt right-sized #packaging. While right-sizing has always provided valuable benefits both economically and environmentally, you can now add regulatory compliance to the list. Reducing waste and improving reuse and recyclability is the right thing to do for many reasons. PPWR is just one more reason.

Our team member, Lyn Tally, recently attended Ocean Plastics Leadership Network’s fall expedition. From September 10th-13th, they explored Maine and Quebec’s innovative waste management and recycling systems with a diverse group of industry, government, and environmental leaders. Here’s what they learned: 🔄 Innovative Solutions: Forward-thinking approaches like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and bottle return schemes are helping create smarter, more efficient waste systems in Maine and Quebec. ♻️ Rethinking Waste: Companies are exploring creative ways to reduce single-use plastics, design reusable containers, and make waste systems more effective. Ensuring food-grade recycled materials and cleaner composting streams remains a challenge. 🌐 Global Insights: Quebec’s comprehensive approach to waste management offers valuable lessons on efficiency, showing a different path compared to current practices elsewhere. Here at A New Earth Project, we're committed to advancing sustainable packaging solutions, and the learnings from this expedition continue to inform how we help brands transition away from single-use plastics. Stay tuned as we continue to share insights and innovations from the expedition to drive progress in waste reduction and recycling. #WasteInnovation #SustainableSolutions #CircularEconomy
