🔎 The HolyGrail 2.0 initiative explores the use of invisible digital watermarks on consumer goods packaging to revolutionize recycling. These imperceptible codes, promoted by the European Brands Association and the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, are tested for large-scale post-consumer waste sorting. 📷 The initiative, backed by over 160 businesses, aims to meet upcoming EU targets for recycled plastics. Digital watermarks, akin to postage stamp-sized codes, cover packaging surfaces and facilitate rapid and precise sorting when detected by high-resolution cameras in waste systems. The final testing phase is underway, showcasing the potential for enhanced recycling processes and compliance with future sustainability goals.
