I'm cautiously optimistic about the creation of a Global Circularity Protocol - a framework to guide and harmonize business and government efforts will be increasingly necessary, to collectively move towards a future that creates less waste. Using existing frameworks like the GhG Protocol to create standardized metrics, they are aiming to release an early version at COP30, in November 2025. My concerns are primarily around contributing to disclosure / audit fatigue, though it will at least start as voluntary. Am I being too cynical? Would you welcome a framework to help guide your company's circularity efforts and transparently report on them? #GCP #Circularity

ESRS is a key standard for CSRD reporting.  📲 Who: Large companies and listed SMEs in the EU. 📝 How: Disclose resource use and circular strategies under ESRS E5. 2️⃣ Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). ➡️ What: Standards for sustainability reporting, including circularity indicators. 📲 Who: Organizations worldwide. 📝 How: Use GRI 301 for material inflows and GRI 306 for waste outflows. 3️⃣ Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). ➡️ What: Standards for financially material sustainability information. 📲 Who: Companies targeting investors and financial markets. 📝 How: Integrate sector-specific SASB standards into reports. 4️⃣ Circular Transition Indicators (CTI). ➡️ What: Measures a company’s circularity by WBCSD. 📲 Who: Businesses aiming to quantify circular performance. 📝 How: Use the CTI tool for insights on material flows and circular revenue. 5️⃣ Circulytics. ➡️ What: Tool by Ellen MacArthur Foundation for assessing circularity performance. 📲 Who: Companies of all sizes. 📝 How: Receive a circular economy scorecard. 6️⃣ ISO 59020. ➡️ What: International standard for CE measurement. 📲 Who: Organizations seeking standardized circularity metrics. 📝 How: Implement ISO 59020 for comprehensive assessments. 7️⃣ Cradle to Cradle (C2C). ➡️ What: Certification for circular products. 📲 Who: Companies certifying products as circular. 📝 How: Certify products with a qualified assessment body. 💡 Bonus - as not on the picture: 8️⃣ Global Circularity Protocol by WBCSD. ➡️ What: A voluntary framework that aims to address key accountability and policy gaps currently impeding the scaling of circularity globally. 📲 Who: Companies of all sizes. 📝 How: Working towards of Science-based targets for circularity.
