Too many times the facade of a building is "just" seen as a series of materials that are combined on a mood board. When bespoke products of differing materials are chosen, trial fits, and mock ups are an invaluable tool in the project development. The understanding of how the elements interface can make or break a project for the client, contractor, installer and manufacturer.

Going from 0 to 1 when building a new company is hard. I think evaluating your product idea is so, so hard. But you can sort of apply the same concepts to anything. Here's how we sort of validated our youth sports card concept. In the early stages of developing Stat Legend, we took several steps to validate our product. It was important to us to ensure that there was a demand for what we were building before investing too much time and resources into it. We reached out to friends who had children to get their feedback and gauge their interest in the concept. We also directly spoke with kids to understand their perspective and preferences. To bring our vision to life, we enlisted the help of my sister, who is a talented designer. She created a card template that was truly unique and eye-catching. We then showed these designs to people and gathered their opinions. To further test the market, we produced some sample cards and sought the assistance of printers to do a small batch print for us. We shared these physical cards with people and collected their feedback. It became clear that improvements were needed - the cards were deemed too cheap, thin, and lacking glossiness. Undeterred, we sought out more parents and kids to test with and went back to the printer, pleading for another batch with a glossy coat and thicker paper. Once we had the updated cards, we shared them once again. The response was immediate - people were drawn to the new and improved cards. Finally, to ensure we had a product that would meet high standards, we nervously presented the cards to one of our toughest customers - my wife. Thankfully, she loved them, giving us the confidence to move forward. Throughout this process, we embraced the concept of "Building in Public," sharing our journey and progress with others. It proved to be an effective marketing strategy, generating interest and building anticipation for our launch. While the process was far from clean or scalable, it allowed us to validate Stat Legend and ensure that we were creating something that people truly wanted. We invested countless hours into honing our design skills and refining the product based on feedback. Now, as we prepare to launch, we are excited to bring Stat Legend to the market and provide a valuable and engaging experience for parents and kids alike.
