What’s your gateway to the internet? What tools do you rely on to get your information quickly? Google? Siri? TikTok? Now what if I told you that’s about to change? We all know AI platforms are on the rise. And IMO, they’re poised to become your new portal to the internet. Imagine a point in time where you first go to ChatGPT, Character.AI, Perplexity or Claude to start your day. To receive personalized information, recommendations, and news. You wouldn’t need to visit another website or app. From a customer acquisition and brand discovery perspective, this shift at scale would be a game changer. It’ll be a new way to reach out to (and potentially lose access to) customers. Controlling the internet entrypoint has always been hotly-contested and deeply strategic. Tech wars have been fought for that positioning. Think back to the early days of AOL, Netscape, Internet Explorer, and then Google and social media. And all for good reason: owning the gateway to the internet shapes user journeys, beliefs, and buying decisions. It determines audience ownership. It’s invaluable access. So brands and businesses need to get ahead of this AI shift now. The industry will need a whole new infrastructure: reimagined SEO, deep platform partnerships, and innovative monetization strategies. Audiences using AI to get their information could be yours to gain..or lose. It’s not going to be as simple as an IG ad, search result, or creator partnership anymore. The future of internet access and brand discovery is back on the table if you believe, as I do, in this new framework. The smart brands and AI platforms will start working together early to capture this value, and create more.

By 2025, the DSP market is projected to reach a staggering $15.6 billion, up from $6.4 billion in 2022. So, what does the future hold for DSPs? For starters, we can expect to see increased adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies. These advancements will enable DSPs to optimize campaigns in real-time, leading to improved efficiency and ROI. In fact, a recent study found that AI-powered DSPs see an average increase of 25% in ROI. Another key trend shaping the future of DSPs is the rise of first-party data. As third-party cookies become a thing of the past, DSPs will rely on first-party data to fuel their campaigns. This shift will lead to more accurate targeting, improved customer experiences, and increased brand loyalty. Furthermore, DSPs will need to prioritize transparency and data privacy to build trust with advertisers and consumers alike.
