True leaders understand the value of continuous assessment and of challenging expectations - learning through exploration. The Range Rover Electric - our first, all-electric vehicle, is currently undergoing testing in Northern Sweden, in temperatures as low as -40°. We believe it will lead the way for electric propulsion capability and refinement, with more patents anticipated to be filed than for any Range Rover in our history. It will be like nothing seen before, yet upon first glance, is exactly what you would expect of a Range Rover - modernist, refined, and incredibly quiet, with a familiar silhouette. Range Rover Electric may well be near-silent, but we will not be bringing this to our customers quietly, as we push our testing programme to extremes to deliver what we believe will be the most luxurious, refined and capable all-electric SUV. #RangeRover #Electric #Luxury

Tech News - Aviation... Sirius Aviation AG last week announced the official launch of the groundbreaking Sirius Jet. In collaboration with BMW's Designworks and Sauber Group, this Swiss aviation startup has crafted the world's first hydrogen-powered VTOL aircraft. Today they unveil the hydrogen-electric ducted fan propulsion system at Payerne Airport in Switzerland. What sets Sirius apart? Unlike existing eVTOLs, their hydrogen-powered regional concept relies solely on electric power, not a fuel tank. The hydrogen power plant ensures 100% power supply, with the battery needed for just 90 seconds per flight. The high-performance, zero-emission marvel combines jet aerodynamics with airplane and helicopter versatility, promising extended flight distances, impressive speeds, and near-silent altitudes. Set to launch in 2025, the Sirius Jet will come in two versions: Sirius Business Jet for private use and Sirius Millennium Jet for commercial aviation. Get ready for a transformative leap in global transportation. #SiriusJet #Innovation #SustainableAviation #FutureOfFlight

Radian Aerospace's (Radian) PFV01 prototype vehicle completes initial round of taxi tests. PFV01, a prototype with the same aerodynamic profile as Radian's AV09 design iteration, performed a series of pitch-up maneuvers and short hops, collecting critical data from integrated telemetry systems. Radian Aerospace Successfully Completes First Taxi Tests for Prototype Flight Vehicle by Clarence Oxford Los Angeles CA (SPX) Sep 26, 2024 Radian Aerospace (Radian), known for developing the world's first fully reusable, horizontal takeoff and landing, single-stage-to-orbit (SSTO) spaceplane, has successfully completed the initial round of ground taxi tests for its prototype flight vehicle, PFV01. These tests represent a significant step in the company's progress toward realizing the Radian One spaceplane. The ground tests, conducted in Abu Dhabi, focused on evaluating the vehicle's low-speed takeoff and landing characteristics, such as handling and yaw stability. PFV01, designed to share the aerodynamic profile of Radian's AV09 iteration, performed a series of pitch-up maneuvers and short hops, with crucial data collected via integrated telemetry systems. "These successful tests represent an early but significant step in our broader journey to bring Radian One to market," said Richard Humphrey, co-founder and CEO of Radian. "While we know there is much work ahead, each step in our robust test program brings us closer to transforming access to space with rapid, reusable, and cost-effective transport to low Earth orbit. This achievement underscores the dedication of our team and the potential of our technology as we continue to advance through the next phases of development." Throughout the tests, Radian's engineering team concentrated on fine-tuning flight control systems and comparing the collected real-world data against analytical predictions. The prototype was equipped with various telemetry systems to track essential parameters, such as stability and control. "We've made substantial technical progress with PFV01," stated Livingston Holder, co-founder and CTO of Radian. "Validating our aerodynamic analysis allows us to better define our shape by systematically de-risking critical elements of our spaceplane's design. "The ability to collect and analyze real-world data from our initial ground tests is providing key insights into the vehicle's aerodynamic performance and stability that will drive the design of future prototypes and Radian One." Radian has successfully manufactured the composite PFV01 and implemented tools to analyze real-time data using integrated flight sensors. Looking ahead, the company plans to conduct further tests in the coming months from a longer regional runway to facilitate sustained flight at higher speeds. https://lnkd.in/dUPps8wx

Alef Aeronautics, a SpaceX-backed startup, is making waves with its 'Drive and Fly' vehicle, the Alef Model A, having received close to 3,000 pre-orders. The innovative two-seater vehicle, unveiled last September at the Detroit Auto Show, has garnered acclaim as a promising entrant in the emerging market of personal flying cars. Jim Dukhovny, Alef's Co-Founder and CEO, revealed in a CNBC interview that the company has secured over 2,850 pre-orders, surpassing competitors like Wisk, CityAirbus, and Joby Aviation. Financially backed by investor Tim Draper, Alef's order book represents a combined value of over USD 850 million. The Alef Model A is available for pre-order on the company's website with two options: a USD 150 choice for the general queue and a USD 1,500 option for the priority queue. Dukhovny emphasized that production would commence gradually, with the first Model A expected by the end of 2025, provided there's sufficient funding. Designed for both road and air travel, the Model A has a top road speed of 25-35 miles per hour and a 200-mile range. In flight mode, the range decreases to 110 miles. Weighing only 850 lbs, it falls into the ultralight aircraft category in the U.S. and Canada, classified alongside small EVs. Alef Aeronautics obtained a special airworthiness certificate from the FAA in 2023, allowing the vehicle to undergo crucial trial processes. The vehicle's unique design includes a mesh structure providing air to eight propeller motors, resembling a bi-plane during forward flight. Despite the vision for the Model A targeting commuters in congested cities, safety concerns arise about low-altitude flights over populated areas. Dukhovny remains optimistic, dubbing the Model A as "One step for planes, one giant leap for cars." The company is also working on a four-seater sedan, the Model Z, priced at USD 35,000, set for release in 2035. #avfoilnews #innovation #futureoftransportation #spacex
